Cardiff City is believed to be on the verge of signing Copenhagen goalkeeper Nathan Trott on loan for the upcoming season, as reported by Wales Online.
The Bluebirds have, thus far, been frustrated in the transfer market as they prepare for League One.
New Brand Calls For New Players
With Brian Barry-Murphy now in the Cardiff City dugout, the club are in the process of changing the playing style. The way the new manager wants to play calls for a goalkeeper who is adept at playing out from the back.
Trott has been identified as that man and is likely to replace Ethan Horvath, who is keen on a move away from the Welsh capital to strengthen his claims for a place in the US Men’s National Team squad for the home World Cup next summer.
The deal with Copenhagen for Trott is set to be a loan with an option to buy should the Bluebirds bounce straight back to the Championship. According to the report, the option to buy figure stands at just over £1.5 million.
Trott was part of the Copenhagen squad that won the double last season, becoming Danish champions for the 16th time and winning their 10th Danish Cup.

Barry-Murphy Confident Of Improving Squad
Following his side’s friendly draw with Notts County, the new manager addressed the transfer situation.
“So there’s an inevitability about improving the squad in certain positions and I’ve spent a lot of time focusing on what we need to recruit, in terms of specific profiles.”
“It feels as if we’re making good progress on that.”
With the ongoing unrest surrounding the club and the ownership, Barry-Murphy is determined to give supporters something to smile about and a team they can be proud of.
“We’re not looking to make wholesale acquisitions, but we are looking to have a squad that excites the supporters and makes them keen to come to the game on Saturday.”
“The key message to the players is that we want to improve the squad and we want them to be part of a squad that can do something different and special.”
Writer’s View
It is a frustrating time for Cardiff City fans, and something needs to change fast or the club could find itself battling at the wrong end of the League One table.
Despite their troubles, the Bluebirds will be a cup final-style match for lots of teams in the division, and they will have to be able to stand up to those pressures to get results.
