Parma’s interest in Millwall forward Mihailo Ivanovic is still alive after previous reports the Italian side were looking elsewhere.
The Serbian international has been subject to transfer speculation just 12 months on from arriving at The Den, with reports from LondonWorld suggesting that Parma, alongside Premier League sides Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton were interested in signing the 20-year-old. The Lions spent just £2.8 million to sign Ivanovic from Vojvodina, making 40 appearances and scoring 13 times since arriving in South London.
Parma Still Interested
Reports from last week in Gazetto Della Sport suggested Parma had moved on from their interest in Ivanovic, and were looking at other potential options after being unwilling to match Millwall’s €16 million (£13.8 million), with AC Milan’s Lorenzo Colombo named as an alternative.
However, the situation has since changed with a new revelation from ParmaToday, which stated that Ivanovic is back on the Serie A side’s radar, but sales are required in order to facilitate a move. Whilst Ange-Yoan Bonny has been sold to Inter Milan so far this window for Parma, they are waiting for a move for Simon Sohm to then sign their ‘dream player’.
The Swiss midfielder is a key target for rivals Fiorentina and it is believed that further negotiations between the two Italian clubs will commence later this week. The Emilia-Romagna club finished in 16th upon their return back to the top flight, avoiding relegation by five points.
Millwall have done business to bolster their attacking options by making a return for former loanee Josh Coburn, who has been signed permanently from Middlesbrough for what was a club record fee.

Writers’ View
It seems that Millwall aren’t out of the woods yet when it comes to keeping Mihailo Ivanovic at the club this summer. His debut campaign was a success on all fronts for a player leaving his home country for the first time at 19 years old. The promise he has shown have rightly seen suitors emerge as far back as May when Lazio were reportedly interested in signing him. Whilst last week’s report may have been encouraging for The Lions, the news that Parma are waiting for funds in order to make a move may be alarming for their hopes of developing the Serbian further.
