Crawley Town have secured a significant addition to their midfield with the signing of Kyle Scott on a three-year deal.
The 27-year-old joins from Orange County SC and brings experience from top academies, European football, and international youth levels.
Ex-Chelsea Prospect Returns to England With Crawley Ambitions
Kyle Scott’s move marks a notable coup for Scott Lindsey’s squad as they prepare for the 2025–26 League Two campaign. Once regarded as a top talent in Chelsea’s youth ranks, Scott spent over a decade at Stamford Bridge and lifted three FA Youth Cups along with two UEFA Youth League titles. He made his senior debut for Chelsea under Antonio Conte in 2018 during an FA Cup clash against Hull City.
After a loan spell in the Dutch Eerste Divisie with Telstar, Scott signed for Newcastle United in 2019. While he didn’t break into the Magpies’ Premier League first team, he was a regular for the U23 side in Premier League 2.
In 2021, the midfielder opted for a move to the United States, initially signing with FC Cincinnati in MLS before finding stability at Orange County SC in the USL Championship. Across two full seasons with the California club, Scott made over 70 appearances and was a consistent presence in midfield.
Last season, he led Orange County in both passing accuracy and tackles won, underlining his maturity and tactical intelligence. Though primarily known for his composure and defensive contribution, he also chipped in with a goal during the 2024 campaign.
Eligible to play for multiple nations, Scott has represented England, Ireland, and the United States at youth level, scoring for the US U20 side in one of his two caps.
Speaking about the move, Crawley Town highlighted Scott’s blend of technical ability and leadership qualities as key factors in their pursuit of the midfielder. He becomes one of the club’s highest-profile signings this summer, reflecting a growing ambition at Broadfield Stadium to build on recent League Two progress.

Writer’s View
Crawley have quietly pulled off a smart bit of business with the addition of Kyle Scott. While he never quite fulfilled his early promise at Chelsea or Newcastle, his development in the US appears to have been both consistent and impressive. His recent performances suggest he is now a more complete midfielder, capable of dictating play and offering defensive steel.
Returning to English football in League Two is a logical next step and offers him a genuine platform to relaunch his domestic career. With a full pre-season ahead, Scott could prove to be a standout in Crawley’s midfield engine room.
