Rotherham United Fans React To Dan Gore Return

Rotherham United fans have voiced their concern after Manchester United midfielder Dan Gore rejoined the club on a season-long loan.

The 20-year-old is highly rated at Old Trafford and was a part of the FA Youth Cup winning side in 2022. He has since made two appearances for the Red Devils, with the first arriving against Crystal Palace in September 2023.

He made his first temporary move to Port Vale during the second half of the 2023/24 season but managed just one appearance for the Valliants after picking up a quad injury on his debut. He then missed the start of last season after undergoing surgery on a dislocated shoulder.

Upon recovery, the England under-20 international was offered a second chance at regular senior football by joining Rotherham on loan in January. However, he once again returned to the treatment table after just one outing for the Millers before regaining fitness for the final two matches of the campaign.

Gore Return Met With Concern

Gore’s return to the AESSEAL New York Stadium was confirmed earlier this evening, with supporters reacting to the news tentatively. One user said he would ‘give it a month’ before he’s sidelined again, whilst others were quick to point out his injury proneness.

Others were far more positive though, claiming that if Gore can stay fit, he could be one of the signings of the summer:

Writer’s View

Dan Gore’s injury record over the last couple of seasons make some of these reactions understandable. However, the midfielder is a real talent and one that Manchester United believe has the potential to break into their first team in the coming years. His previous two loan spells have both come during the second half of the campaign, so this will offer him an opportunity to play regularly from the off. This should help the youngster build up match fitness and could be key to his development over the next 12 months. This could be a big signing for Rotherham.
