Salford City have secured a major summer signing with the addition of former Lincoln City midfielder Jorge Grant on a two-year deal.
The 30-year-old arrives following three seasons at Heart of Midlothian, bringing with him an impressive record across the English Football League and Scottish Premiership.
Midfield Maestro Targets Promotion With Ammies
Grant, who began his career at Nottingham Forest, enjoyed one of his early career highlights when he scored on his full debut against Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup. His breakout season came during a loan spell at Notts County in 2017–18, where he netted 15 goals from midfield and earned a place in the League Two PFA Team of the Year.
He then played a part in two successful League One promotion pushes. First came a brief stint at Luton Town in their 2018–19 title-winning campaign, followed by a standout year at Lincoln City. During the Imps’ run to the 2021 play-offs, Grant scored 13 league goals and was again selected in the PFA Team of the Year.
After earning a move to Scotland in 2022, the creative midfielder featured more than 100 times for Hearts. His time at Tynecastle included appearances in European competition, underlining the experience and pedigree he now brings to Neil Wood’s Salford side.
Speaking to club media after sealing the switch, Grant revealed he had been eager to join the Ammies for some time.
“I am really happy, this has been in the pipeline for the last few weeks, so I am just delighted to be here now… My target is promotion, I feel like the team obviously missed out on that last year on the last day… we push on to make sure that we go one better this year.”
The move is still subject to EFL and FA clearance, but Grant is already settling in and has his sights set on helping Salford make another play-off push in 2025–26.

Writer’s View
Jorge Grant’s arrival at Salford is a statement of serious intent. He is one of the most technically gifted midfielders in League Two and has twice proven himself to be among the very best at this level. His ability to dictate tempo, deliver set pieces, and contribute goals makes him a game-changer.
Salford’s near miss last season will hurt, but in Grant, they now have someone who’s tasted success and knows what it takes to go one better. If he can stay fit and hit form early, he could be the difference between another near miss and a promotion party.
