Leicester City Set To Sanction Player Exit

Leicester City could be preparing to offload Victor Kristiansen as uncertainty continues to grip the King Power Stadium.

The Danish international is attracting interest from Nottingham Forest, amid growing speculation over his future following the club’s relegation and managerial vacancy.

Leicester City Set for Departure Amid Managerial Uncertainty

Kristiansen’s name has resurfaced in the transfer rumour mill, with reports suggesting Nottingham Forest have now joined the list of clubs considering a summer move. The 22-year-old left-back, signed by Leicester for a reported £17 million from Copenhagen in January 2023, could now be on the way out as the Foxes begin to reshape their squad for life back in the Championship.

After a loan spell with Bologna in 2023–24, where he impressed during the Italian side’s Champions League-qualifying campaign, Kristiansen returned to Leicester and played 31 matches last season. However, he fell out of favour during the final month of the campaign, with Luke Thomas replacing him in the starting line-up. His only start in the final seven fixtures came as a left winger in a 2–0 defeat to Bournemouth.

Leicester’s situation off the pitch further complicates matters. The club are still without a manager following Ruud van Nistelrooy’s brief tenure, and doubts remain over their strategic direction ahead of the new season. That has been reflected in the unsettled next Leicester City manager odds, which continue to shift as the search for a permanent successor rumbles on.

Kristiansen is contracted until 2028, but with Leicester under pressure to streamline their squad and recoup funds following relegation, a sale could prove tempting—particularly if Forest or another suitor meets their valuation. It’s believed the Foxes would want at least £10 million to record the deal as profit on their books.

The Denmark international remains a valuable asset, having already represented his country 18 times at senior level. He is reportedly still admired in Serie A following his spell at Bologna, with Roma, Lecce and Torino all previously linked. Sunderland have also been named as potential suitors, due in part to their new sporting director’s past interest in the player.

For Forest, who face a packed European schedule next season, left-back is a priority area. While Neco Williams and Ola Aina have both operated there, a natural left-sided defender with top-level experience would strengthen Nuno Espirito Santo’s options significantly.

Writer’s View

This feels like the kind of transfer that could define Leicester’s summer—not because of the fee or profile, but because of what it reveals. If Kristiansen goes, it signals that the Foxes are entering full rebuild mode. But with no manager currently in place, it raises questions about who is pulling the strings on recruitment and departures.

Until the next Leicester City manager is confirmed, any sales feel speculative at best and reckless at worst. Kristiansen may want clarity on his own future, but right now, Leicester don’t appear able to offer it.
