Charlton Athletic have strengthened their front line with signing of Tanto Olaofe from Stockport County, as Nathan Jones continues to reshape his squad ahead of the Championship campaign.
The 25-year-old forward has signed a three-year deal at The Valley, with the club holding an option for a further year.
Olaofe Returns to Capital in Charlton’s Statement Deal
The Addicks have completed one of their most eye-catching signings of the summer so far by securing the services of Olaofe from Stockport County. Journalist Richard Cawley has revealed that Charlton, newly returned to the Championship, have paid a reported £1.5 million for the striker in a move that underlines their attacking intent.
Olaofe had attracted interest after scoring consistently across multiple levels of the EFL and National League, including nine League One goals last season. His goal tally includes 31 in League Two and 15 in the fifth tier, demonstrating a proven ability to adapt and develop.

Speaking on the club’s official channels, Charlton manager Nathan Jones hailed the signing, saying:
“We’re really happy to sign Tanto. He fits everything we want to do here in terms of his profile – he’s young, hungry, athletic and he wants to play at the next level.”
The move marks a return to London for Olaofe, who began his professional career at Millwall. After developing through the Lions’ system, he has forged a reputation for sharp movement, intelligent pressing, and clinical finishing in the lower leagues. Now, he will be hoping to prove himself at Championship level under a manager with a strong track record of developing forwards.
Olaofe will join up with his new teammates during a packed pre-season schedule, which includes friendlies against Dartford, HNK Gorica, Wealdstone, Cambridge United, Ipswich Town, and Southend United. The Addicks will begin their league campaign at home to Watford before kicking off their EFL Cup campaign against Stevenage.

This is an ambitious move from Charlton and an encouraging sign of their intent under Nathan Jones. Tanto Olaofe arrives with a strong scoring record in the lower divisions and the hunger to prove himself at a higher level. While some may question the size of the fee, Charlton are clearly backing their manager’s judgment.
Olaofe’s energy, physicality and ability to stretch defences could offer something different for the Addicks in a demanding league. If Jones can integrate him quickly and build around his strengths, this could be one of the smarter buys of the window—and potentially a bargain if he adapts well to life in the Championship.
