Charlton Athletic On Verge Of Striker Signing

Charlton Athletic are set to sign striker Isaac Olaofe from Stockport County just a year after signing a new deal.

The 25-year-old joined The Hatters in January 2023 from Millwall, earning his first permanent move away from his boyhood club after making three total appearances for the London side. After an impressive two seasons, Dave Challinor rewarded the striker with a new three-year deal at Edgeley Park ahead of last season.

Addicks Make Move

According to Alan Nixon via his Patreon page, Charlton Athletic have agreed a deal for Olaofe to return to South London, paying a reported £1.5 million fee for his services. After a minor injury at the start of the season, the former Sutton United loanee scored 12 goals this season, bringing his total whilst at the club up to 37.

Nathan Jones’ side are looking for support for Matty Godden, who was the standout performer last campaign with 22 goals in his debut season. The Addicks went up through the playoffs, beating Leyton Orient at Wembley but have lost Danny Hylton this summer following his retirement.

Athletic have confirmed just one signing so far, with Blackpool‘s Sonny Carey heading to The Valley on a free transfer. More importantly, they secured Nathan Jones to a new long-term deal amid rumours he could manage his hometown club in Cardiff City.

With Charlton Athletic going, up they will have more pull to lure some amazing League One talents and they have done so with the signing of Isaac Olaofe. Perhaps location is a factor with his family living in the local area, but nevertheless, Nathan Jones side have picked up a very capable forward to be alongside Matty Godden this season. Whilst in previous seasons players like Louie Barry may have picked up the headlines, the 25-year-old was much more of a dependable option for Stockport and can do the same at Charlton.
