Preston North End have confirmed the signing of Canadian international Daniel Jebbison on a season-long loan.
The 21-year-old rose through the ranks at Sheffield United, although opted to leave Bramall Lane at the end of his contract last summer. He joined Premier League outfit AFC Bournemouth on a four-year deal but was immediately shipped out to Watford on loan.
His time at Vicarage Road was cut short in January. The attacker played just 380 minutes of Championship football and failed to register a single goal contribution.
Jebbison did enjoy a bit more success on the pitch upon his return to the Cherries, scoring in FA Cup wins over West Bromwich Albion and Everton. He then netted his first Premier League goal for the club in May during a 3-1 defeat against Manchester City.
Heckingbottom Delighted With Reunion
Another season in the second tier beckons as Bournemouth look to aid his development with regular game time. He was linked with a move to Preston earlier this week, with the signing confirmed this morning.
The deal represents a reunion with Paul Heckingbottom, who took over at Deepdale last summer. The 47-year-old was at Sheffield United with Jebbison, first with the under-23s before taking charge of first team affairs in 2021.

Speaking upon confirmation of the deal, the former Barnsley boss said:
“I’m looking forward to working with Jebbo again. I’ve watched him play since he was a teenager and he was great to coach at Sheffield United.
“He‘s someone I always pushed to keep improving during our time together. I’ve always believed in his ability and his potential. I know how good he can be and we’re looking to get the best out of him while he’s here working with us.”

This is an excellent move for Jebbison, who will now get the opportunity to work with Heckingbottom again. He is a player that hasn’t quite lived up to his potential just yet, although he is still in the early stages of his career. His former boss is someone who knows exactly how talented he is and will allow him the time to grow. This should see him gain more regular minutes, something that he hasn’t enjoyed since his loan spell with Burton Albion during the second half of the 2021/22 season.
