West Bromwich Albion Set Sights On Former Southampton Man

West Bromwich Albion are looking at a potential move for Bournemouth’s David Brooks according to reports.

The Baggies are under new leadership in the form of former Hull City player and Tottenham Hotspur coach Ryan Mason, who signed a three-year contract when arriving at the club this month. Albion are yet to make any moves officially this window, but have been heavily linked with Scottish standout striker Lawrence Shankland from Hearts of Midlothian.

Baggies Monitor Brooks

According to the Express and Star, West Brom have been looking at David Brooks for a potential move, as his Bournemouth future remains in the air. The 27-year-old has been on the peripheries for The Cherries, starting just nine Premier League games out of 29 appearances in the top flight.

Brooks comes with plenty of Championship experience, most recently two years ago when he was part of the Southampton squad that gained promotion through the playoffs by beating Leeds United at Wembley. Prior to his move to the South Coast, he played for Sheffield United and was a graduate of the Manchester City academy.

News of Albion looking for a new winger comes as news of a potential move for Tom Fellows continues to bubble. TeamTALK have suggested that Everton are ready to launch a bid for the 21-year-old, who is currently representing England at the U21 Euros in Slovakia.

Writers’ View

Whilst clubs will always be looking for new players to improve their sides across the board, perhaps this link is a hint that Tom Fellows’ future at West Bromwich Albion could be limited. David Brooks is a capable player in the Premier League and has been unlucky not to feature more for Bournemouth due to his very public health battles. This would be a good move in isolation for the club should they sign the winger, but paired with the likelihood of Fellows leaving, it would see the club lose one of its great young talents and perhaps be a bit of a blow unless they get a good price for him.
