Truro City Confirm Second Summer Capture As Player Goes Full Time

Tylor Love-Holmes has penned a new contract with Truro City following a breakout season that saw the club crowned National League South champions.

The 20-year-old defender has committed to the newly-promoted side as they prepare for life in the National League after an impressive debut campaign.

From Western League to National League In Just 12 Months

Love-Holmes’ rise has been nothing short of remarkable. This time last year, the defender had just completed a season in the Western League with Saltash United. But after being recommended to Truro by former Tinners favourite Marcus Martin, he was handed a pre-season opportunity to impress—and he seized it.

Signed in July 2024, Love-Holmes quickly adapted to the demands of National League South football. He made 20 appearances across the campaign, helping Truro secure the league title and promotion to the fifth tier of English football.

The former Plymouth Argyle academy product also spent a short spell on loan at Southern League outfit Plymouth Parkway during the winter. That move proved beneficial, reigniting his confidence and ensuring he returned to Truro sharp and match-ready. After being recalled in mid-March, he featured in every matchday squad for the remainder of the season, playing a vital supporting role in the run-in.

Reflecting on his progress, Love-Holmes said:

“It has taken me a long time to get here, but I am happy with where I am now. My dream has always been to test myself as much as possible and this has been my dream for ages—to go full-time.”

The 2025/26 season will see Truro City operate as a fully professional side, a significant change from the hybrid model many players endured last term. Love-Holmes acknowledged the challenge of juggling football with external work commitments but is now relishing the opportunity to focus solely on his development.

“Going full-time will be a lot easier for some of the players because there were times last season when we’d get back late from games, then have to go to work and then training. That will tire anyone out before you even think about away trips on Tuesday nights. But now we will be able to get our bearings in a professional environment.”

Love-Holmes is the second player to commit to Truro this week, following midfielder Will Dean’s decision to extend his stay. With preparations underway for their first season back in the National League since 2011, manager Paul Wotton will be hoping to retain the core of last year’s promotion-winning squad.

Writer’s View

Tylor Love-Holmes is a great example of why lower league pathways matter. From Western League football to the edge of the professional game in just a year, his story is testament to hard work and the power of opportunity.

If he continues developing at this rate, Truro may have unearthed a gem who can thrive at National League level and beyond.
