Bradford City are expected to complete the signing of left-back Ibou Touray before the weekend, as manager Graham Alexander strengthens his squad ahead of their return to League One.
Touray, 30, was released by Stockport County this summer and has been the subject of talks with Bradford in recent weeks. According to journalist Alan Nixon, a reunion with Alexander—his former boss at Salford City—is now close to completion, with the player reportedly keen on the move.
League One Experience
The Bantams earned promotion from League Two after finishing third in 2024/25, narrowly edging out Walsall in a dramatic final-day finish. With preparations well underway for the step up to the third tier, Alexander is targeting experienced heads who can help the club establish itself at a higher level, and Touray certainly fits that bill.
Having made 43 appearances in all competitions last season for Stockport, Touray proved to be a consistent and durable performer at left-back. Though he picked up 12 bookings along the way, his energy, experience, and versatility make him a valuable asset. In addition to operating at full-back, Touray can also play as a left-sided midfielder, offering tactical flexibility.
Touray Career
The Gambian international began his career in the youth system at Everton but was forced to drop into non-league football following his release. He worked his way back up through spells at Chester, Rhyl, and Nantwich Town before joining Salford City in 2017. It was during his six-year stint with the Ammies that he emerged as one of the National League’s top defenders, eventually captaining the side and earning the club’s Player of the Season award in 2019/20.
Touray moved to Stockport in 2023 and was a regular feature in their push for promotion. Although the Hatters ultimately fell short, his consistent performances did not go unnoticed. Bradford are now poised to capitalise, offering Touray a fresh challenge back in League One.
