Blackburn Rovers have tied down promising goalkeeper Felix Goddard to a new long-term contract.
The 21-year-old has extended his stay at Ewood Park with a two-year deal running to June 2027, including the option of an additional year.
Rovers Back Youth with New Goddard Deal
Goddard, who joined Rovers from Manchester City in 2020, is yet to make a senior appearance for the club but has been steadily building experience out on loan. Last season saw him feature for Ebbsfleet United in the National League, following previous loan spells at Marine, Lancaster City, Bamber Bridge and Dundalk.
His new contract underlines the belief within the club that the Frankfurt-born stopper remains a key part of their long-term planning, despite a challenging campaign.

Club Statement
In a statement on the club’s official website, Goddard reflected on his time at the club so far and paid tribute to those who have supported his progress.
“I’m very pleased and very grateful to extend my stay here at this great club for another two years. I’ve been here for around five years now and I’ve really enjoyed my time here. I’ve learnt a lot and I’ve grown both as a footballer and as a person.
“I’m very grateful to have two great goalie coaches in Ben Benson and Chris Renshaw, and for their continued support and belief in me. Last season was a tough one for me, for a variety of reasons, but a lot of learning took place, which is all I can really ask for. I want to continue to learn and grow each day, and that’s what I intend to do over the next two years.”
The goalkeeper, who grew up in Singapore and began his youth career at JSSL Singapore, spent three years at Manchester City before making the switch to Lancashire. He has since featured for Blackburn at youth level but is still awaiting his first appearance in the senior side.
With the Championship outfit set to evaluate their squad ahead of the new season, another loan could be on the cards for Goddard to further aid his development.
Writer’s View
This deal represents a smart piece of long-term planning from Blackburn Rovers. While Felix Goddard hasn’t yet broken into the first team, the club clearly values his potential and is keeping their options open with the additional one-year clause. Last season may have been a step back on paper, but his attitude—focusing on learning and growth—bodes well for his future.
Another National League or League Two loan spell next season could be the next step in his journey towards becoming a regular at Ewood Park.
