Burnley forward Zeki Amdouni is the subject of growing interest from Turkish side Besiktas, with reports from Turkey indicating contact has already been made between the clubs.
Amdouni, 24, spent last season on loan with Benfica, making 43 appearances and scoring nine goals. Despite being under contract at Turf Moor until 2028, the Clarets are said to be open to letting him leave for a fee of around €20 million (£17m). With the club now preparing for life back in the Championship, a sale at that price could help fund a squad reshuffle.
The forward’s family ties to Turkey and personal affinity with Besiktas could be key in negotiations. Reports claim Amdouni supported the club as a child, while his father was born in Trabzon. That connection may sway the player’s decision, especially given Besiktas manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær is seeking reinforcements to replace the potentially outgoing Ciro Immobile and Semih Kilicsoy.

Amdouni has enjoyed a steady rise through the European football ranks. He began his senior career with Swiss lower league side Étoile Carouge before progressing through Stade Lausanne Ouchy and Lausanne-Sport, eventually emerging as a breakout star at Basel. His time at the Swiss giants included a standout campaign in the 2022–23 Europa Conference League, where he scored seven goals in eight knockout games—finishing joint top scorer.
He joined Burnley in July 2023 following Basel’s activation of a purchase clause, but was loaned out to Benfica just over a month later. With Burnley now adjusting to life in the second tier after relegation, cashing in on Amdouni—who has yet to fully establish himself at Turf Moor—could be a sensible move.
The Clarets may also lose midfielder Josh Brownhill this summer, with Besiktas reportedly interested in him too. Such developments indicate that significant changes could be on the horizon at Burnley, especially if manager Vincent Kompany departs amid external interest.
Writer’s View
Zeki Amdouni’s time at Burnley always felt transitional, and now the pieces are falling into place for a permanent move away. With his profile growing in Europe and Besiktas offering the dual pull of top-level football and emotional ties, this could be a win-win deal.
Burnley, under new direction and now back in the Championship, need to realign their squad and their finances. £17 million for a player who hasn’t featured domestically could be a smart bit of business. Expect this one to move quickly—especially with Besiktas eager to strike before rival clubs enter the fray.
