Derby County are planning a second raid on Blackburn Rovers as they look to tempt attacker Andi Weimann to Pride Park, according to Derbyshire Live.
The Rams famously snatched John Eustace from the Lancashire-based club in February, naming the 45-year-old as Paul Warne’s successor. This came in spite of Rovers’ push for a play-off place, whereas Derby were embroiled in a relegation scrap.
Both teams will remain in the Championship next season after Blackburn missed out on a top six finish by just two points, whilst Eustace guided his new club to safety following an excellent run of just two defeats from their last 11 games.
Eustace Keen On Weimann Reunion
The ex-Birmingham City boss brought Weimann to Ewood Park last summer after the 33-year-old was released by Bristol City. The Austrian international had attracted the interest of a number of second tier clubs after racking up over 200 appearances for the Robins, scoring 51 times.
Interesting, he joined City in 2018 from Derby for a fee of £2 million. However, he struggled for goals in his first spell at Pride Park, netting just eight times in 88 outings.

His time at Blackburn has been a relative success. He arrived on a one-year deal but was a regular feature in the squad before suffering a knee injury in March.
Although out of contract, Valerien Ismael is keen to retain his services. The club announced earlier this week that they have offered the player fresh terms. It appears as if they have competition though, with it claimed that Eustace is hoping to reunite with the former Aston Villa attacker as he looks to bolster his attacking options this summer.
Writer’s View
Weimann was always likely to garner interest this summer but Blackburn fans will be loath to see him join Derby. Few have forgiven Eustace for upping sticks mid season, especially when he had them challenging for a play-off place. It was inevitable that he would eventually start targeting one or two of his former club’s players but it is probably a move that makes sense for the Austrian. He is entering the twilight years of his career and would feature regularly in a system which suits his style of play.
