1st Prediction For Sheffield United vs Sunderland AFC: Sheffield United to win 5/4

Chris Wilder’s men have been excellent this season and they looked very comfortable in their playoff semi-final against Bristol City, meaning they will be the favourites heading into Saturday’s blockbuster match. The Blades kept pace with Leeds United and Burnley FC for much of this season before a run of four losses in five games in May saw them fall away at the final hurdle. Chris Wilder’s men have been good going forward, scoring 63 goals in their 46 league games and having the fifth-most shots on target per 90 and the fourth-most touches in the opposition box. Although they struggled in front of goal during their poor run of form in April, the Blades’ attackers have been at their offensive best in the playoffs. Over their two games against the Robins, they created eight big chances, took 33 shots and, most importantly, scored six goals. Sunderland have also had a good season, but they finished 14 points behind the Blades in the league and looked much less secure in the playoffs against Coventry City, needing a 120th-minute goal from Daniel Ballard to send them to Wembley.

2nd Prediction For Sheffield United vs Sunderland AFC: Sheffield United to win and both teams to score: no 12/5

Not only have Sheffield United looked offensively excellent recently, but they have been defensively superb throughout the entire season. Sunderland, meanwhile, have slightly struggled in front of goal lately, meaning it could be worth predicting the Blades to win whilst also keeping a clean sheet. Chris Wilder’s men conceded just 36 goals this season, making them one of the best defensive teams in the history of the Championship. They kept a staggering 22 clean sheets this campaign and conceded just 46.4 xG. Goalkeeper Mike Cooper played a large part in this as he saved 76.9% of the shots that he faced, a statistic bettered only by James Trafford. Although Sunderland managed to score three goals against Coventry, the Black Cats had scored just once in their last six games of the league season. Wilson Isidor, who is their top scorer this season, has found the back of the net once in his last 15 games.

3rd Prediction For Sheffield United vs Sunderland AFC: Callum O’Hare to score at any time: 87/20

The only player across both teams to score in both legs of the playoff semi-final, Callum O’Hare is clearly the in-form attacker heading into the final. Despite this, the bookmakers are offering very good odds on predicting the former Coventry City man to score. The 27-year-old’s first campaign at Bramall Lane has not quite gone to plan. O’Hare managed just two goals and six assists in 44 games with his new club during the regular season which has seen him start both legs of the playoff semi-final on the bench. But, he has come off the bench to score in both games against Bristol City, doubling his goal tally for the Blades in the process. There is clearly a spot on the right-hand-side of the attack up for grabs as Wilder started Rhian Brewster there in the first game before opting to start Andre Brooks last time out, but Sheffield United’s number 10 has surely forced himself into the starting 11 at Wembley.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head

After a rough start to April which saw them fall out of the race for automatic promotion, Sheffield United have recomposed themselves well. They thoroughly outclassed Bristol City in their playoff semi-final, beating the Robins by six goals to nil over the two legs. They have also been excellent throughout the Championship season as a whole, picking up 90 points in their 46 games and having the third-best defence and sixth-best attack in the second tier. Chris Wilder has won promotion from the Championship and managed Sheffield United in big matches before, meaning he knows how to get the best out of his teams on big occasions. Sunderland AFC have also had an excellent season. They finished with 76 points from their 46 league games, falling out of the race for automatic promotion in the intense second half of the campaign. Regis Le Bris’ men were the ninth-highest scorers in the second tier and they had the fourth-best defence. Their playoff semi-final was a lot trickier than Sheffield United’s. The Black Cats edged a two-one victory at the Coventry Building Society Arena thanks to a late goal from Wilson Isidor but they needed a stupendous header from Daniel Ballard in injury time during extra time to secure their place at Wembley. The last time these sides met was on New Year’s Day as the Black Cats secured a two-one win despite Sheffield United creating more xG than Regis Le Bris’ side. The Blades have won five of the last seven meetings between the teams.
