Leeds United are eyeing a move for in-demand striker Promise David as they prepare for their Premier League return.
The Canadian forward has emerged as a top target after a prolific season in Belgium, with the Whites among several clubs weighing up a summer approach.
Leeds Monitoring Union Saint-Gilloise Star
According to a report from Sky Sports Switzerland, Leeds United are interested in signing David from Union Saint-Gilloise. The 23-year-old hitman enjoyed an outstanding campaign in Belgium, scoring 20 goals and assisting five times across 40 appearances in all competitions.
Brighton & Hove Albion and Lille are also credited with interest, though the latter could be priced out of a move with Union SG reportedly valuing the striker at around €20million (£16.8million). At 6ft 4in, David offers a towering presence in the final third and has impressed with both his physicality and finishing ability.
It’s understood the player is open to leaving Belgium this summer, and the volume of interest is beginning to influence his thinking.

Forward Options Under Review At Elland Road
Joel Piroe may have won the Championship Golden Boot, but Daniel Farke is believed to be keen on adding a different profile of striker to his squad ahead of the Premier League campaign. While Piroe has proven himself at second-tier level, the club are conscious of the need for physical presence and top-flight readiness next season.
Leeds are likely to make attacking reinforcements a priority, with question marks remaining over Patrick Bamford’s future and Mateo Joseph attracting interest from abroad. David, with his age, stature, and goalscoring form, could offer the perfect blend of potential and readiness for the top tier.
Writer’s View
Leeds United’s reported interest in Promise David feels like smart, forward-planning recruitment. The Canadian’s scoring record in Belgium is impressive, and while the Premier League is a step up, his physical tools and upward trajectory make him a compelling target.
With Brighton also circling, Leeds would be wise to move swiftly if they are serious. A strong addition up front will be crucial if Farke’s side are to avoid another relegation battle.
