Hull City could lose their incoming summer signing Gustavo Puerta as soon as they sign him to a Premier League side.
The on-loan Bayer Leverkusen midfielder is set to join The Tigers permanently following this season after the Championship side activated a clause in the contract last month. That deal, which cost Hull €3.5 million (£2.95 million), runs until 2028 with an option of an additional year.
City Could Make Quick Deal
According to a report from Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra and later followed up by Birmingham World, City could sell Puerta just days after he officially arrives at the club in July, with Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers interested. It is believed that the Molineux club have already enquired about a deal to take Hull’s 60% of the player rights.
It looks to be a major midfield rebuild in East Yorkshire, with fellow midfielder Steven Alzate is also expected to leave as LaLiga clubs Valencia, managed by former West Bromwich Albion boss Carlos Corberan, and Getafe are targeting his services. He remains under contract until the end of next season.
Wanderers have found an uptick of form under new boss Vitor Pereira and look to have boosted transfer coffers this summer as they are expected to sell star forward Matheus Cunha to Manchester United, but replacing the Brazilian is the number one priority across this window.

Writer’s View
In what was a terrible season for Hull City, Gustavo Puerta did stand out with his defensive acumen, although you could see that as being boosted by how poorly The Tigers played this season. Ruben Selles has faith in his abilities by activating the permanent transfer clause in the loan deal last month so to sell him immediately would be an interesting move. Whilst he would certainly receive a major boost in finances by moving to Wolves, it is hard to see him breaking into the first team with how reliable Vitor Pereira’s midfield duo of Andre and Joao Gomes.
