Lincoln City Transfer Stance Revealed As Bid Received

Lincoln City have rejected a bid worth £600,000 from Championship outfit Swansea City for midfielder Ethan Erhahon, according to Football Insider.

The 24-year-old has emerged as one of the hottest talents in League One since joining the Imps from St Mirren in 2023. Having racked up over 100 appearances for the East Midlands-based club, his performances in the centre of the park have attracted much interest over the course of the past year.

This prompted director of football Jez George to address the situation last summer, admitting that it will be difficult to keep him at the LNER Stadium in the future. He stayed put this season, although it was rumoured that the likes of Preston North End and Plymouth Argyle were both keen to acquire his services in January.

Erhahon Expected To Depart This Summer

Erhahon remains the crown jewel of Michael Skubala’s squad and supporters are resigned to losing the star this summer. Within days of the regular season ending last week, reports emerged that a number of Championship clubs were keeping an eye on his situation, including Blackburn Rovers, Derby County, Millwall and Oxford United.

It now appears as if the first enquiry has been fielded, with Swansea the first to take a place at the table. However, their opening bid has been dismissed.

The news was also backed up by Wales Online reporter Tom Coleman, who also claimed that it is unlikely the Swans will return with a fresh offer. Instead, they are set to explore other targets.

Previous reports claimed that Lincoln are keen to receive a fee that will eclipse their previous club record. This was received from Huddersfield Town, who paid £640,000 for Harry Toffolo in 2020.

Writer’s View

Lincoln are right to reject Swansea’s opening offer. Erhahon is a player that can attract a fee of around seven figures and there isn’t going to be a shortage of potential suitors this summer. He is a player who is capable of playing at Championship level and has been attracting interest for well over a year now. As such, the Imps need to hold out for as much as possible. Still, they are a club which is well run and know they have the upper hand. Expect this scenario to rumble on throughout the summer.
