Huddersfield Town Owner Makes 2025/26 Promise

Huddersfield Town owner Kevin Nagle has vowed to ‘eradicate the disease’ within the club following a dreadful end to the season.

The Terriers dropped into League One a year ago and were amongst the favourites to secure an automatic promotion place. A 16 game unbeaten run between October and January left them well placed to launch an assault on the top two during the second half of the campaign, but they suffered a big collapse in form.

This led to manager Michael Duff losing his job in March, with academy manager Jon Worthington brought in to steady the ship until the end of the season. However, he was unable to do that, and he won just two of his 10 games in charge.

Huddersfield eventually finished the campaign in 10th place, 14 points off the play-off places.

Nagle Issues Tough Statement

Their final game of the season saw them beaten 4-1 by Leyton Orient at the John Smith’s Stadium. It was their sixth successive defeat, leading to owner Nagle issuing a damning assessment of the season. Taking to ‘X’, the American businessman said:

“No words I can say will make you or me feel better about this season.

“All I can say is this:

“You will have my time, my passion, and my money this offseason, as we will work day and night to get this right.

“In all my years of being in team ownership, across ALL sports, I have never had one collapse like this midseason.

“That is a disease we will be eradicating this offseason, amongst other things.

“It starts with leadership and culture.

“And if that rubs some wrong within the building, those are the ones that don’t need to be here next year.

“And if you think I’m passing blame, I’m not. It starts and ends with ME. And I have to do better, and I WILL do better.

“I want to thank you, the supporters, along with our amazing Club Staff for putting up with this season as best you can.

“You all deserve far, FAR better. In the coming weeks, you will see actions befitting these words.

“Time to go to work.”

What promised so much around Christmas has turned into an utterly miserable campaign for Huddersfield. Supporters have made their thoughts clear over the past couple of months and it is refreshing to see an owner publicly take accountability. However, he must back up his words with actions. Next season could be make or break for the Terriers. Failure to gain promotion could see them languishing in League One for years to come.
