Two sides are battling for the Championship playoffs, knowing a win is the only way they can make it certain. Coventry City have lost points at the worst time but hold the last place coming into this game, and their visitors Middlesbrough will need a win and some help. It couldn’t be any more tense.
Our Three Predictions For Coventry City v Middlesbrough
- Prediction 1 – Match To End In A Draw – 5/2
- Prediction 2 – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 11/25
- Prediction 3 – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 53/100
First Prediction For Coventry City v Middlesbrough – Match To End In A Draw – 5/2
As expected the Championship promotion race is as tense as ever, and these two sides are right in the thick of it. Coventry City found new life under new management and raced up the table and having home advantage in this game could well be the tipping point. They have the sixth best home record in the league, and that matches their position in the standings with this final game to play. They have though only drawn three times at home, but it is the magnitude of the game that could see them slip up again, as they have lost their last two games, albeit away. Middlesbrough will be all out for a win, a draw in fact does them little good, and again they have only four draws on the road, in what is an impressive seventh best road game in the Championship. They have lost the last two away, but will be upping their game for this one last push. It is the sheer pressure that could mean that the two cancel each other out in what will be a very high pressured atmosphere.
Second Prediction For Coventry City v Middlesbrough – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 11/25
Although this could be a drawn game, it could provide goals. Both will be out for a quick start and cause chaos for the other. An early goal will settle nerves a little but force the opposition to come out and attack, Errors could well play a part too, with so much on the line. The Sky Blues have scored 38 goals at home, a fine tally to go against the 24 conceded. This bodes well for a team that needs at the very least a point to try and secure that final spot in the playoffs. Boro are also free scoring on the road and have managed 33 goals, but they do tend to leak a lot too, and with 31 goals against they may struggle to keep the home side at bay. They have lost their last two games and let in three goals in those games, but before that kept a clean sheet in two as they won one and drew one. A tight game then, but goals could flow, making this an entertaining draw.
Third Prediction For Coventry City v Middlesbrough – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 53/100
The shackles are off in this last roll of the dice. Coventry will be roared on by a fervent home support that have seen their side buckle a little at the wrong time. They still have their destiny in their hands though. Middlesbrough need a win and help to get into the playoffs and know that goals are king. They will though be well aware that they need to keep tight at the back, having said that it is the home side that have conceded more. With both committed to attack we can expect goals, and with that they will be some bad play creep in and unforced errors may well cause more opportunities. With so much on the line this could well be a high scoring and entertaining game.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head To Head
After losing 2-1 to Burnley at the start of the month Frank Lampard’s Coventry City have somewhat stumbled to the finish line. But that line is still in sight and the goal at the end is promotion. They have been close before, and will have learnt from that experience. And after getting themselves into position they will not want this chance to slip by. Leading scorer Hadji Wright will want to add to his 12 goals, and will also be trying to aid Ellis Simms tack on to his six efforts so far. A lot of drive comes from the attacking midfield play of Jack Rudoni, who has starred with seven goals and a great 12 assists. If he is on his game that could be the difference in going up. At the back they have the Jamaican Joel Latibeaudiere, and Jay Dasilva, the pair are key in keeping things tight and what a time it would be for either of them to score their first goal of the campaign.
It was a slow start for Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough, but they have come together and got themselves in contention. The could well rue that slow beginning to the season though as they not only need a win in this game but help from others too, which is never ideal. Should they achieve what looks like a long shot to the playoffs they will need a tight defence. Anfernee Djiksteel and Aidan Morris have played the most games in the back line and should feature strong in this game. Up front they have goals in them, especially Finn Azaz who has been one of the standouts in the Championship all season, his 12 goals and 11 assists would grace any team. He won’t be alone though as 22 year old Scottish forward Tommy Conway can add to his 13 strikes so far. Could the pair get the goals that keep the hopes of Boro alive.
