Burnley host Sheffield United at Turf Moor in a game which could seal their promotion from the Championship.
Our Three Predictions For Burnley vs Sheffield United
- First Prediction:Â Burnley To Win – 9/10
- Second Prediction:Â Both Teams To Score – No – 13/20
- Third Prediction:Â Under 2.5 Goals – 1/2
First Prediction For Burnley vs Sheffield United – Burnley To Win – 9/10
Burnley enter this game with one foot in the Premier League and a victory here would confirm their promotion with two games to spare. They sit second in the table, level on points with leaders Leeds United and separated by just goal difference. However, with Sheffield United faltering in recent weeks, the gap to the Blades in third is now five points. Scott Parker’s team are in a rich vein of form and haven’t tasted defeat in the league since November when they lost 1-0 at Millwall. Even more impressively, the Clarets have lost just twice all season and are yet to be defeated at Turf Moor. With five wins in their last six, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them pick up the three points here.
For Sheffield United, this is a game they simply need to win. They started the month with three successive defeats before returning to winning ways against Cardiff City on Good Friday. With so much riding on the game, they will be forced to go for it, which is likely to suit Burnley. Scott Parker’s side are excellent at playing with their back to goal and picking their opponents off, just as they did in a 2-0 win at Bramall Lane on Boxing Day.
Second Prediction For Burnley vs Sheffield United – Both Teams To Score – No – 13/20
Burnley’s defensive record has been well documented this season, but there’s no doubting that they have been nothing short of remarkable in that department. They have conceded just 14 times in 43 league outings and are yet to ship more than one goal in a game all season. As a result, only 12 of their fixtures have seen both teams score. Unsurprisingly, this is the lowest in the Championship.
Sheffield United also rank low in this department. In fact, only Burnley have seen less games achieve this mark, with the Blades scoring and conceding in the same fixture just 16 times in 43 outings.
Third Prediction For Burnley vs Sheffield United – Under 2.5 Goals – 1/2
It’s not often you see odds this low for under 2.5 goals, but the statistics show it would be a major surprise to see a goal fest at Turf Moor. Again, thanks to their defensive resilience, Burnley have only been involved in 12 games that have seen three or more goals, although that does include three 2-1 victories in their last four outings.
Like their opponents, Sheffield United have been involved in low-scoring affairs all season. They rank 21st in the over 2.5 goals market, two places above Burnley, with just 15 of their 43 games hitting this market. Three of their last four have also seen under three goals.

Full Preview of the Game: Last Results and Head-To-Head
Burnley have been in excellent form as of late. They are currently on a staggering 30-game unbeaten run stretching back to November and have won eight of their last 10. They did have to work hard for the three points against Watford on Good Friday though, coming from a goal behind to win 2-1. That was their third 2-1 victory in their last four outings, also beating Coventry City and Norwich City by the same scoreline. The other was a disappointing 0-0 draw at relegation threatened Derby County.
Sheffield United’s automatic promotion hopes have fallen apart since the beginning of this month. They topped the table at the end of March following an excellent 3-1 win over Coventry, but followed that with three successive defeats against Oxford United, Millwall and Plymouth Argyle. Chris Wilder would have been thrilled to bounce back against Cardiff City in their last fixture, where they won 2-0 at Bramall Lane. Their recent drop off means they are now five points behind the top two and they will be forced to settle for a play-off place if they lose at Turf Moor.
Burnley put in a professional performance to secure a 2-0 victory in the reverse fixture on Boxing Day, extending their winning run over the Blades to four games. Led by Vincent Kompany, the Clarets recorded two big wins over United in the Premier League last season, winning 5-0 at Turf Moor and 4-1 at Bramall Lane. Sheffield United’s last victory in this fixture came in 2022, but they haven’t won at BB10 since 2008.
