Interim head coach Ben Gladwin expressed his frustration after MK Dons suffered another heavy defeat, this time at the hands of Notts County.
The Dons were beaten 3-0 at Meadow Lane on Wednesday evening, a result that leaves the club reeling from a series of disappointing performances.
Second-Half Collapse Proves Costly for MK Dons
MK Dons managed to keep their hosts at bay in the first half, with the scoreline remaining 0-0 at the break. However, the game quickly unravelled in the second half. Notts County’s David McGoldrick opened the scoring just two minutes after the restart with a spectacular strike, despite a hint of offside.
The Dons were left reeling as Nick Tsaroulla doubled County’s lead just seven minutes later, catching MK Dons’ Joe Tomlinson off guard. Will Jarvis sealed the win for Notts County with a stunning long-range goal 16 minutes from time.
After the game, a visibly frustrated Gladwin spoke to the press.
“It’s the same old story, it’s boring for me to drone on about it,” said Gladwin. “The first-half looked pretty much how we wanted them to, I thought the boys were brilliant in a tough place, against a team at the top end of the table for a reason. But the second-half was just nowhere near it. Everyone is well aware of that.”
The interim boss acknowledged the team’s struggles in the second period, describing the opening goal as particularly disappointing.
“The goal is disappointing in terms of the timing and the manner of it. McGoldrick is a top player at this level. We have to put him under more pressure, and there are certain things in the build-up as well. But all three goals were so preventable,” Gladwin added.
Despite the heavy defeat, Gladwin tried to remain positive, focusing on the team’s strong first-half performance.
“We suffered together a lot in the first-half, we were there for each other, and there was a lot of positive stuff to build on for the second-half. But the second-half was just nowhere near it. Everyone is well aware of that,” he said.
The loss leaves MK Dons searching for answers as they continue to struggle in the league, with relegation concerns lingering. Gladwin’s task now is to lift the spirits of his players and prepare them for the challenge ahead.

Writer’s View
MK Dons’ inconsistency remains a significant issue. While the first half offered a glimmer of hope, the team’s failure to maintain momentum in the second half once again led to a disappointing defeat. Gladwin’s comments reflect the deep frustration within the squad, but his challenge is clear: find a way to turn these performances around before it’s too late.
