Hull City Target European Goalkeeper Deal

Hull City could make a move for Dutch goalkeeper Bilal Bayazıt in the summer according to reports from Turkey.

The 25-year-old has been a strong performer for Super Lig side Kayserispor this season, conceding 24 times in 17 matches, including five clean sheets. He joined the side, which also is home to former Coventry City striker Duckens Nazon, in 2021 from Vitesse Arnhem.

Tigers Eye Deal As Asking Price Named

According to reports in the Turkish outlet Deniz Postasi, Hull are eyeing a move for Bayazit over the summer. The Tigers, who are owned by Fenerbahce vice chair Acun Ilicali, with the starting price for any move being in the region of €3m (£2.52m), however, it is believed that Kayserispor may set an asking price of €5m (£4.5m).

However, the East Yorkshire side are not the only side monitoring the Dutch keeper, with unnamed sides in France and Saudi Arabia also mentioned as interested parties in the report. League rivals Trabzonspor had also made efforts to sign Bayazit over the past 12 months but were ultimately stifled by a transfer embargo on Kayserispor. It is believed they had offered an initial €1m fee with an additional €500,000 in addons.

Croatian keeper Ivor Pandur has been between the sticks for City this season, conceding 45 times in 36 games. Hull are still battling for survival in the Championship this season and are three points clear of the drop heading into this weekend’s contest against Luton Town.

Sides will always be scouting potential new deals so it makes sense for Hull City to use their connections through owner Acun Ilicali to examine some of the available players on the Turkish market. The sticking point for City will undoubtedly come around the uncertainty of which league they will play in next season and whether a fairly big spend can be sanctioned should they drop down into League One. Offers from abroad, especially Saudi Arabia could also throw a spanner into the works if Ruben Selles wants to bring Bilal Bayazit to Hull over the summer.
