Notts County v Barrow: Predictions, Lineups, and Odds (4/2)

Notts County kept themselves in automatic promotion contention over the weekend, but will be wary of any more slip ups, and this game could be one of those. Barrow arrive needing some points as they slip down the League Two ladder, so this is a crucial game under the lights.

Our Three Predictions For Notts County v Barrow

  • Prediction 1 – Notts County To Win – 33/50
  • Prediction 2 – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 3/4
  • Prediction 3 – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 17/20

First Prediction For Notts County v Barrow – Notts County To Win – 33/50

Fourth place County will want to carry on their recent good home form in this midweek clash with visitors Barrow, who are struggling on the road. The home side has only lost three games at home in 16, and this could be another win to add to their nine wins. They have the fifth best home record in League Two, compared to struggling Barrow who have only won twice on their travels and rank 23rd in away form. One thing that goes strongly in the home sides favour is they rarely concede at home. They have only let in 10 goals, and three of those have come in the last five games. At the other end of the pitch they score regularly, and have five in the last three home games, whereas Barrow have conceded seven in their last three road trips.

Second Prediction For Notts County v Barrow – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 3/4

Notts County, like most teams at the top end of the table, do not have trouble finding the opposition net. 52 goals in 33 games is proof of that, and even though they score more away than at home, their 23 on home soil is a decent return. They do have trouble keeping clean sheets though and this will give hope to a Barrow side that averages a goal a game this season, but away is their Achilles heel, with only 8 strikes in 16 games, a goal every other game. They are fighting at the wrong end of the table though, and may see a game against high flying County as a free hit, and a chance to gain a point, something they have failed to do in the last three games. A surprise if they get more than one, but that could be enough to keep their average up, making this a good bet.

Third Prediction For Notts County v Barrow – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 17/20

For a team so low in the league, Barrow do not have a bad defence, with only 40 conceded, so County will do well to break this side down. However, with the season at the business end and needing to keep pace with others at the top, they will need to get their scoring boots on. A potent strike force could well be enough as they try and bolster their goal difference, but Barrow will not go down without a fight, and they too could find the net against a County side that has only conceded seven less than their opponents in this encounter, that is though a goal a game average. With critical points on the line, both sides will be all out to grab vital goals, meaning this could be a match that lights up the scoreboard.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head To Head

Stuart Maynard has his team ready for the last quarter of the season. They may need to find a little more consistency in the win column if they are to fulfil dreams of automatic promotion, but with other teams also dropping points around them, they are far from out of that chase. He will as ever be reliant on keeping Alassana Jatta fit and healthy for the run in. His 16 goals and four assists have been crucial in keeping County near the top. George Abbott has chipped in with four goals, and the same number of assists from midfield, and young Irishman Conor Grant proving to be an exciting prospect there is much to admire in the attacking intent. Matty Platt continues to impress at the back, and he has a great foil in Jacob Bedeau. This could still be a great season for County, and they will view this game as a must win ahead of trickier matches to come.

Barrow have fallen steadily down the table after a good start, and are in danger of being in the tick of the relegation scrap. A three game losing streak isn’t helping and manager Andy Whing will have to squeeze every last bit of positivity out of his players if they are to arrest the slide. Emile Acquah is joint top scorer with five goals, and his efforts will be needed in this game and beyond. Kian Spence is one goal behind him in the Barrow scoring charts, and his energy could prove vital in the coming weeks. Their defence is not too bad, and Ben Jackson has led the line well, and 38-year-old Sam Foley is still managing to use his years in a defensive midfield position to good use. They will need an unexpected point at least here to stop the rot, easier said than done.
