Our Three Predictions for Leeds United vs West Bromwich Albion

    • First Prediction: Leeds United to win – 1/4
    • Second Prediction: Over 2.5 goals to be scored – 61/100
    • Third Prediction: Joel Piroe to score at any time – 3/2

First Prediction for Leeds United vs West Bromwich Albion – Leeds United to win – 1/4

Although this prediction may seem obvious, Leeds United need to keep winning if they want to lift that trophy at the end of the season. After their comeback win against Sheffield United, they sit five points clear at the top and seven points off the play-offs, but there is still a lot of football left to be played before they can start celebrating. The hosts have been unbeaten in the Championship since late November and have won 22 games out of the 34 they have played. It would be extremely impressive if West Brom were to cause Leeds to drop points considering the gulf in quality between the two sides. West Brom sit only four positions below the league leaders, yet there is an obvious 24-point gap between them. Whilst the Baggies have proved they are good enough to push for play-off football, Leeds have consistently proved they have what it takes to achieve promotion back to the Premier League and could get one step further with a win against Tony Mowbray’s men.

Second Prediction for Leeds United vs West Bromwich Albion – Over 2.5 goals to be scored – 61/100

The Whites are by far and away the highest scorers in the second tier this season. They have netted 71 goals in 34 matches and have scored 16 more goals than anybody else in the division. Even though the away side don’t have a bad goal-scoring record, Leeds’ record certainly outshines theirs, as they have scored 44 goals in the same amount of matches this season. However, they also have a worse defensive record, conceding 10 more than their opponents. Daniel Farke’s men have only failed to score in five Championship matches all season and don’t look like adding to that record anytime soon. They have also scored two goals or more in one match a whopping 23 times, and average 2.09 goals scored per match. Whilst West Brom’s defensive record, again, isn’t awful, the firepower Leeds have up front may cause problems for Mowbray’s side.

Third Prediction for Leeds United vs West Bromwich Albion – Joel Piroe to score at any time – 3/2

Leeds’ Dutch talisman Joel Piroe has been on fire this season, scoring 15 goals and providing a further six assists. The 25-year-old has already bettered his goal tally from last season, where he scored 14 goals. He is the Championship’s joint top-scorer and is on level terms with Norwich City’s Borja Sainz. The striker is in great form and has scored five goals in the last six games. There’s no doubt he’ll be looking to add to his tally to further help his team in their promotion hunt.

Full Preview of the Game – Last Results and Head-To-Head

As mentioned above, league-leaders Leeds come into this game in very good form and have been unbeaten in the league since November. They sit top of the tree by five points and are seven points clear of third-placed Burnley. Their opponents aren’t far behind and occupy the play-offs, but come into this game in mixed form, losing two, winning two and drawing one in their last five.

With the Championship promotion race heating up, three points would be crucial for both sides. The hosts could potentially go seven points clear of second place depending on other results around the grounds, with the Baggies able to further distance themselves from the sides who are breathing down their neck.

Since 2018, these sides have faced each other nine times in both the Premier League and the Championship, with Farke’s side winning the majority of these ties with four wins. Three further results have ended level at full-time, with West Brom taking all three points just twice.
