Premier League sides Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton remain keen on securing the services of Watford’s midfield star Giorgi Chakvetadze, Football League World reports.
Both clubs had expressed interest in the Georgia international ahead of the January transfer window, and it appears their pursuit is far from over. Scouts from Molineux and Goodison Park have been in attendance at recent Watford fixtures, closely monitoring Chakvetadze’s performances in the Championship.
The 25-year-old has impressed this season, scoring twice and registering five assists as Watford push for a play-off spot. His ability to shine against top-tier opposition was evident when he set up a goal during a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in the EFL Cup last September.
Despite the continued interest, both Wolves and Everton are conscious of the significant financial commitment required to prise Chakvetadze away from Vicarage Road. The midfielder is under contract until 2029, and Watford are reportedly demanding a fee of up to £20 million for his signature.
Can Wolves or Everton Afford the Midfield Maestro?
Chakvetadze has proven to be one of the Championship’s standout performers, with 65 chances created this season and a passing accuracy of 86.2%. His international experience also adds to his value, having played a key role in Georgia’s historic run to the Euro 2024 knockout stages.
Both Wolves and Everton see him as a potential asset for the upcoming Premier League campaign. However, financial constraints could play a crucial role in determining his next move. Wolves’ ability to make an offer may depend on their Premier League survival, while Everton, under the leadership of David Moyes, appear to have a more stable foundation to negotiate a deal.
A £20m fee represents a significant outlay for either club, but at 25, Chakvetadze still has plenty of untapped potential. The coming months will determine whether Watford’s valuation proves too high or if one of these Premier League hopefuls makes a decisive move for the talented midfielder.

Writer’s View
Chakvetadze is the kind of player who could thrive in the Premier League, offering creativity and composure in the middle of the park. His ability to unlock defences and contribute defensively makes him a valuable prospect. However, £20m is a steep price, especially for clubs like Wolves and Everton, who have both had financial constraints in recent seasons. If Watford remain firm on their valuation, a summer transfer may only materialise if a bidding war ensues.
