League Two promotion-chasers Doncaster Rovers host the Premier League’s Crystal Palace at the Eco-Power Stadium in the FA Cup fourth round.
Our Three Predictions For Doncaster Rovers vs Crystal Palace
- First Prediction: Crystal Palace To Win – 1/5
- Second Prediction: Both Teams To Score – No – 18/25
- Third Prediction: Under 2.5 Goals – 137/100
First Prediction For Doncaster Rovers vs Crystal Palace – Crystal Palace To Win – 1/5
Doncaster Rovers head into the fourth round of the FA Cup for the first time since 2021. Their reward for beating Championship opposition in Hull City on penalties in the last round is the visit of the Premier League’s Crystal Palace. The Eagles have been in decent form since Christmas, losing just one of eight fixtures in all competitions. They will also be in good spirits having beaten Manchester United at Old Trafford last week, a result which moved them up to 12th in the top tier. They’ve already raced lower league opposition in this competition, recording a narrow 1-0 win over Stockport County in the previous round.
Doncaster are challenging for promotion from League Two, although a run of four successive wins came to a grinding halt last night when they lost 5-2 against Chesterfield. It wasn’t the ideal preparation for this game, especially because they have only three days to prepare for the clash. Upsetting a team three leagues above them was always going to be a tall challenge, but doing only days after their previous outing will make this even more of an uphill battle.
Second Prediction For Doncaster Rovers vs Crystal Palace – Both Teams To Score – No – 18/25
Doncaster have only failed to score at the Eco-Power Stadium on two occasions this season in the league, the last of which came against Bromley in October. They’ve also found the net in each of their last nine fixtures in all competitions, but now face a team that have conceded just three times in their last eight.
Palace have been especially strong at the back in recent weeks, keeping clean sheets against Manchester United, West Ham United, Leicester City and Stockport County. They won’t take this game for granted and could name an experienced back line in order to combat Doncaster’s attacking threat. This could include a debut for new signing Ben Chilwell, who joined the club on loan from Chelsea earlier this week.
Third Prediction For Doncaster Rovers vs Crystal Palace – Under 2.5 Goals
Palace showed against Stockport that they are able to put in a professional performance against lower league opposition. A fourth minute Eberechi Eze strike proved the difference between the two teams in a game which the Premier League side dominated from start to finish. Although they are expected to rotate, they will still be hoping to come out of this unscathed as they keep one eye on next weekend’s clash with Everton. As such, a similar performance can be expected here. They’ve also seen only one game see three or more goals since the turn of the year.
Doncaster’s last three games have been productive in front of goal, with 5-2, 2-1 and 3-1 scorelines recorded. Not much can be taken from those outings though, and they will have to find a way through a defence which contains international footballers. A 2-0 away win could be on the cards here.

Full Preview of the Game: Last Results and Head-To-Head
Doncaster missed out on a fantastic opportunity to close the gap on League Two leaders Walsall to just four points last night with their visit to Chesterfield. However, few would have predicted the Spireites to emerge with a 5-2 victory. This means that Grant McCann’s team remain seven points adrift in second having played two games more. The Yorkshire-based outfit have beaten Barrow, Kettering Town and Hull City to earn a place in the fourth round.
Crystal Palace have been quietly going about their business and look comfortable in mid-table in the Premier League. They bounced back from a 2-1 home defeat against Brentford to secure a 2-0 win over Manchester United last time out, their third successive away win by that scoreline. Manager Oliver Glasner will be targeting a top half finish as well as a good run in the FA Cup.
This isn’t the Eagles’ first trip to the Eco-Power Stadium. They visited South Yorkshire in 2019 in the FA Cup fifth round, where they won 2-0 thanks to goals from Jeffrey Schlupp and Max Meyer. The two teams did find themselves in the same division between 2008 and 2012, when Doncaster spent a four-season stint in the Championship. Rovers last victory over Palace came in their league meeting in September 2011.
