Our Three Predictions For AFC Wimbledon v Bradford City

  • Prediction 1 – AFC Wimbledon To Win – 23/20
  • Prediction 2 – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 17/20
  • Prediction 3 – Match To End In A Draw – 2/1

First Prediction For AFC Wimbledon v Bradford City – AFC Wimbledon To Win – 23/20

Ironically Bradford City are one of only two teams that have a better home record than AFC Wimbledon. The Dons have only lost twice at home in League Two, and have picked up eight wins from the 13 games played at Plough Lane. They have the meanest defence in the division too, with only 20 goals conceded with nine of those when playing at home. They are currently on five game unbeaten run at home, their last defeat being a 2-1 reverse in the FA Cup against Dagenham & Redbridge. The Bantams are currently riding a four game win streak that has propelled them into the playoff places, and away from home they are unbeaten in two, with a draw and a win. Their lack of goals on the road could be their undoing here, just 14 in 13 road trips, and against the tough to break down Dons this may well be the deciding factor.

Second Prediction For AFC Wimbledon v Bradford City -Both Teams To Score – Yes – 17/20

Overall these two have been scoring goals with regularity, and both stand at 38 goals each for the season. At Plough Lane the Dons have been filling their boots with 24 goals so far, and have seven in their last five home outings. It is hard to not see them scoring here, given that free scoring run and also the fact they will want to prove they are very much in contention for a promotion run this season. Bradford’s Achilles heel in their promotion chase has been their away form and with only 14 goals when on the road, this may well hamper their push. They have a -3 goal difference on the road too, and the Dons will feel they can score on them. However, given what is at stake between the two it is hard not to see both getting on the scoresheet at least once.

Third Prediction For AFC Wimbledon v Bradford City – Match To End In A Draw – 2/1

This could be the safest bet of the match, as both sides will not want to lose ground at the top, while at the same time preserving their good form. A draw will not be seen as a bad result by the visitors, but the home side would see it as points dropped. In recent games between the two you could barely separate them, in fact five of the last six games have been a draw, and the other was a 1-0 win for Bradford. Four of those games have been 0-0 games, and where goals could be served up in this game, it could still remain a tight affair. The Dons have drawn their last two games – both away – against promotion challengers, and will view Bradford in the same situation, and if this is a draw they may look back and see it as not so bad a result in the grand scheme of things.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head To Head

There is always talk around Plough Lane at this time of year of how it is the starting point of a disappointing run to the end of the season. There has been some different chatter this time around though, as no big names have left the club, and indeed they have strengthened the side in January, as a serious promotion charge is being made. Johnnie Jackson has benefitted from a back line that has rarely changed due to long injuries. Only Joe Lewis has missed a large chunk of games due to injury, and now he is back in the leagues toughest defence, so the best just got better it would seem. Up front the Dons still have a very potent threat in Matty Stevens, his 13 goals will always keep opposition on their toes. He now has others to help dip in with goals, Omar Bugiel, Marcus Browne and new signing Osman Foyo.

It was only a matter of time before Graham Alexander started to get his team fully up to speed, and now they are one of the favourites for promotion, and not just via the playoffs, but automatic such is their great form. With four straight wins, and dynamic play, they are a very entertaining watch right now. This game will be a perfect test for City. They have struggled a little away from home, and against the best defence in League Two could well see if they are fully up for the long run in for promotion. It will not break their season if they do not keep up the winning run, but should they come away with maximum points it will definitely serve notice to the rest of the division. To do so you feel that the back line that includes Ciaran Kelly and Jack Shepherd will have to be at their best, along with Sam Walker in goal.
