West Bromwich Albion have reportedly made an approach for Chelsea midfielder Harvey Vale as part of their efforts to bolster their squad for a Championship promotion push.
According to Sky Sports reporter Mark McAdam, the Baggies are one of several teams interested in securing the services of the highly-rated 21-year-old.
Promotion Hopes Faltering
After Carlos Corberan’s mid-season departure to Valencia, West Brom’s promotion campaign has faced significant challenges. Under new manager Tony Mowbray, the Baggies have struggled for consistency, winning just one of their last six Championship games. Their latest setback came in a 2-0 defeat against Middlesbrough.
Despite these struggles, West Brom remain only one point behind sixth-placed Blackburn Rovers. With the January transfer window open, the club is looking to strengthen key areas, particularly midfield, to reignite their promotion campaign.
Chelsea midfielder Harvey Vale is attracting interest from a number of Championship clubs as well as sides from Germany and Belgium.
QPR, Oxford & West Brom have reached out to the blues to enquire about his availability.
Heerenveen, Hannover & Leuven also interested.

Harvey Vale: A Promising Addition
Vale has attracted interest from several Championship clubs, including Queens Park Rangers and Oxford United, as well as teams in Germany and Belgium. West Brom have now taken the first step by making an enquiry for the player’s availability.
The Chelsea midfielder has impressed at youth level this season, scoring three goals and providing five assists in seven Premier League 2 matches. At 21, however, Vale is at a stage where consistent senior-level game time is essential for his development.
“Harvey Vale is very talented,” noted reporter Simon Johnson, highlighting the midfielder’s potential. Last season, he was a key player on loan at Bristol Rovers in League One, making 39 appearances and gaining valuable experience.
What Vale Could Bring to West Brom
If West Brom secure Vale, his creativity and versatility could provide a much-needed boost to their midfield. His proven track record in League One suggests he is ready for the step up to the Championship, where he could help Mowbray’s side regain momentum in their promotion bid.
Writer’s View
Pursuing a player like Harvey Vale is a shrewd move for West Brom. The midfielder’s talent and potential align with the club’s needs, and he could prove instrumental in reigniting their push for a play-off spot. However, with multiple clubs interested, the Baggies may need to act quickly to finalize a deal.
