Plymouth Argyle striker Muhamed Tijani is expected to return to action early next month following a long recovery from a hamstring injury.
The 24-year-old has been sidelined since late September, leaving a gap in the Pilgrims’ attack as they navigate the challenges of Championship football.
Key Player Ready for Integration
Tijani, who joined Argyle on a season-long loan from Slavia Prague, has only featured in one start and two substitute appearances this season. Head coach Miron Muslic remains optimistic about the Nigerian forward’s impact on the team, describing him as the type of player Argyle have been missing.
“Muhamed has the green light, so he is now in his integration phase towards the team. He’s in a good way, and you just see the profile of Muhamed—a big lad, a very physical number nine, and that’s exactly the player we miss for our game,” Muslic explained.
Muslic highlighted Tijani’s ability to act as a target player, comparing him to QPR’s Michael Frey. “In moments of stress, in moments of danger in the build-up, you can always go to the target player. He can keep the ball, he can link up the game, and that’s something we miss. TJ will give us this opportunity.”

Patience Required for Full Recovery
The Argyle manager also tempered expectations, noting that Tijani’s extended absence will require a gradual reintegration. “Don’t forget, we have to be patient with him. He was out for almost the whole season, so he will need a little bit of integration time, but we can take a benefit out of him for sure,” Muslic said.
With Ryan Hardie currently the only recognised striker available, Tijani’s return could not come at a better time. Hardie will lead the line against Burnley tonight, as on-loan Michael Obafemi is ineligible to face his parent club. Michael Baidoo has stepped in as a makeshift forward in recent matches, but the team has struggled to find a consistent attacking focal point.
Writer’s View
Muhamed Tijani’s return offers a glimmer of hope for Plymouth Argyle as they look to climb out of the Championship’s lower reaches. His physical presence and ability to link play could provide the attacking spark the team desperately needs. While patience will be required as he regains match fitness, Tijani’s reintroduction to the squad could prove pivotal for the Pilgrims’ survival hopes.
