Derby County have rejected a bid for centre-back Eiran Cashin from Premier League outfit Brighton & Hove Albion, according to journalist John Percy.
The Seagull are long-term admirers of the 23-year-old. They were interested in bringing the player to the Amex Stadium last summer but were also rebuffed in their approaches.
This season represents the Rams’ first back in the Championship after earning promotion from League One last May. Cashin played a key role in that success, featuring in all but two of their 46 league fixtures. He has taken to life in the second tier well, captaining the side on five occasions.
Having risen through the ranks at Pride Park, Derby are no strangers when it comes to interest in the former Republic of Ireland under-21 international. Speculation was rife throughout last season, prompting the defender to agree terms on a contract extension until the summer of 2027 last February.
Derby Refuse To Budge Amid Premier League Interest
John Percy has stated that Brighton have made a new bid for Cashin. However, this has been instantly rejected. Furthermore, Derby have informed the Seagulls they have no intention of selling this month. The size of the bid remains unclear at this stage.

Derby’s stance is more than understandable considering the importance of the player to their squad. He recently missed five matches with a hamstring injury, in which the East Midlands-based outfit lost four. He returned to the side this past weekend for the 2-0 defeat against Watford.
Writer’s View
Derby’s unwavering stance on Eiran Cashin speaks volumes about their ambitions and priorities. By rejecting Brighton’s bid, they’ve sent a clear message that short-term financial gains won’t come at the expense of their long-term goals. While Premier League clubs often have the financial muscle to unsettle players and clubs alike, the Rams’ approach is commendable. Still, every player has their price. Although they are publicly stating that the academy graduate is not for sale, there will be a point where the offer could be just too big to refuse.
