The Blades beat Tom Cleverley’s Hornets 2-1 thanks to goals from Gustavo Hamer and Andre Brooks. Like their opponents, Chris Wilder’s side were fell out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle after going down 1-0 at home to Cardiff City. Sheffield United are unbeaten in the last five meetings between these two sides, winning the last four. Earlier this season, the Blades needed a Josh Tymon own goal to claim all three points at Bramall Lane. The defender put through his net just before half time and his side were unable to find an equaliser despite dominating possession.

Two seasons ago, the men from the Steel City completed the double over their Welsh opponents on their way to gaining promotion to the Premier League. In Swansea, the Blades left it late to claim a 1-0 victory thanks to a 94th minute strike from Reda Khadra.

The reverse fixture saw United run out more comprehensive victors thanks to goals from Sander Berge, Jack Robinson and Oli McBurnie. The result was never on doubt after Sander Berge had given the hosts the lead after 21 minutes, assisted by Manchester City loanee James McAtee. It was two just before half time when Robinson rifled in from inside the box. McBurnie put the icing on the cake in the 89th minute, scoring from close range.

The last time the Swans came out on top against the Bladesmen was back in January 2019 when the then City player Oli McBurnie scored against his future employers. McBurnie scored just after the hour to hand a Swansea side containing the likes of Kyle Naughton, Leroy Fer and Wayne Routledge all three points.
