Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Swansea City have had a difficult start to 2025 and have yet to register a win, losing two and drawing one of their three Championship outings as well as being dumped out of the FA Cup by Southampton. The Swans began the new year with a comprehensive defeat at Portsmouth, going down by four goals to nil before gaining a point at home to draw specialists West Bromwich Albion three days later. Premier League whipping boys Southampton then put three past the Welsh side to stop Swansea’s run in the FA Cup before it had started. Last time out they were embarrassed by fierce rivals Cardiff City, shipping another three goals without response at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Luke Williams’ side occupy 13th place in the Championship having gained 34 points from their 27 games so far this campaign. They have won nine and lost 11 matches, scoring 30 and conceding 33 goals and keeping six clean sheets. Liam Cullen leads the scoring charts for the Swans with eight goals so far as the Brazilian Ronald Pereira has chipped in with six assists.

Sheffield United began the year with a defeat at the Stadium of Light, going down 2-1 to promotion rivals Sunderland but followed it up with an impressive victory on the road at Watford. The Blades beat Tom Cleverley’s Hornets 2-1 thanks to goals from Gustavo Hamer and Andre Brooks. Like their opponents, Chris Wilder’s side were fell out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle after going down 1-0 at home to Cardiff City. Last time out, United claimed a comfortable win over Norwich City at Bramall Lane thanks to a brace from Harrison Burrows.

The Blades are in a four way tussle involving themselves, Sunderland, Burnley and Leeds United for the two automatic promotion places, currently occupying that vital second spot on 55 points from 27 matches. They sit one point behind Leeds and two ahead of Burnley with Sunderland a further two points back. Wilder’s men have scored 38 goals and have impressively only conceded 17 goals, keeping 16 clean sheets. Goalkeeper Michael Cooper is having an impressive first season at The Lane after joining from Plymouth Argyle and attacker Gustavo Hamer leads both the goal scoring and assists charts with six goals and five assists so far.

Sheffield United are unbeaten in the last five meetings between these two sides, winning the last four. Earlier this season, the Blades needed a Josh Tymon own goal to claim all three points at Bramall Lane. The defender put through his net just before half time and his side were unable to find an equaliser despite dominating possession.

Two seasons ago, the men from the Steel City completed the double over their Welsh opponents on their way to gaining promotion to the Premier League. In Swansea, the Blades left it late to claim a 1-0 victory thanks to a 94th minute strike from Reda Khadra.

The reverse fixture saw United run out more comprehensive victors thanks to goals from Sander Berge, Jack Robinson and Oli McBurnie. The result was never on doubt after Sander Berge had given the hosts the lead after 21 minutes, assisted by Manchester City loanee James McAtee. It was two just before half time when Robinson rifled in from inside the box. McBurnie put the icing on the cake in the 89th minute, scoring from close range.

The last time the Swans came out on top against the Bladesmen was back in January 2019 when the then City player Oli McBurnie scored against his future employers. McBurnie scored just after the hour to hand a Swansea side containing the likes of Kyle Naughton, Leroy Fer and Wayne Routledge all three points.
