Stevenage host Wigan Athletic in this League One match. The two teams have had very inconsistent campaigns, and find themselves in the lower half of the table. In a game that is very close to call, both will be all out to take maximum points at the Lamex Stadium.
Our Three Predictions For Stevenage v Wigan Athletic
- Prediction 1 – Stevenage To Win – 121/100
- Prediction 2 – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 21/20
- Prediction 3 – Wigan Athletic To Win – 11/5
First Prediction For Stevenage v Wigan Athletic – Stevenage To Win – 121/100
Stevenage come into this game after an extended break due to a postponement last week. This would have given them more time than their visitors to prepare in what looks like a tight game. They do boast an unbeaten run of three games, and their last home match was a 3-0 success over Bristol Rovers, and have in fact won three of their last four home games, only being undone by high flying Wycombe Wanderers. Wigan did win their last away game, but that was in the FA Cup, and before that they lost to Wrexham 2-1.
Second Prediction For Stevenage v Wigan Athletic – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 21/20
There is a reason both teams currently sit on the lower half of League One – a lack of goals. Stevenage have only managed 18 so far, with Wigan faring just a little better, 21. However, The Boro have scored 15 of that figure at home, so will likely add to that in this game as they try and push into the top half of the table. The Latics are on an opposite plane with 12 of their goals coming on the road, which at a goal a game average they could well keep up in this latest road trip.
Third Prediction For Stevenage v Wigan Athletic – Wigan Athletic To Win – 11/5
Given their low position in the standings, Wigan actually have a top half away form record so far, and this could prove to be a tipping point in what is a close game to call. Their 15 points from 12 games when on the road may not seem a lot but it is good enough to be ranked ninth in League One. Recent wins at Bolton Wanderers and Rotherham United have been accompanied by clean sheets, and then they also had a win away in the FA Cup. Stevenage do have the seventh best home record but they only have a +3 goal difference so games are often tight, and this may well encourage their visitors to gain an unexpected win.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head To Head
Goals have been at a premium this season for Stevenage, and that is something that will concern Alex Revell coming into this match. They do have veteran striker Jordan Roberts leading an otherwise young front line. The 31-year-old will have to be at his best to add to the two goals he has so far, Jake Young can at least double the single effort he has so far. At the back Carl Piergianni has been ever present and is still one of the best defenders at this level. In fact the entire back line has excelled this campaign, and whoever fills in the roles has done so very well. At the moment the back three sees Nathan Thompson and Luther James-Wildin alongside Piergianni.
The Premier League and winning the FA Cup are long in the wing mirrors now, but Shaun Maloney will be hoping he can still drive his squad up the League One table in the second half of the season. He may not grab the headlines like his Norwegian colleague but Thelo Aasgaard has six goals in this campaign and the 22-year-old will be aiming for more. Alongside him, and a year younger, is Dale Taylor who has a goal less, but remains a very real threat in attack. These two have been the leading lights in an otherwise disappointing season to date. Jason Kerr and Will Aimson are the rocks at the back having played in every game so far, and behind them Sam Tickle has been a safe pair of hands in between the sticks.
