Our Three Predictions For Leeds United vs Sheffield Wednesday
- First Prediction: Leeds United To Win – 31/100
- Second Prediction: Both Teams To Score – 21/20
- Third Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals – 73/100
First Prediction For Leeds United vs Sheffield Wednesday – Leeds United To Win – 31/100
Unsurprisingly, Leeds are the heavy favourites heading into this game. The are top of the Championship and well on course for a return to the Premier League. However, dopped points in each of their last two league fixtures means they are just one point above Burnley and Sheffield United. This means it is likely they will lose top spot before this fixture kicks off and it is imperative they grind out a result.
Daniel Farke’s side have been excellent at Elland Road this season, with only Burnley leaving Yorkshire with all three points. Sheffield Wednesday lost their last away game at Preston North End whilst they also dropped points in their last league outing following a 2-2 draw with Millwall. Taking into account their FA Cup exit at the hands of Coventry City last weekend, the Owls have just one win from their previous five games.
Second Prediction For Leeds United vs Sheffield Wednesday – Both Teams To Score – 21/20
Leeds have been excellent defensively all season, conceding just 19 goals. This is a record bettered only by Burnley and Sheffield United. However, they have shipped four in their previous two league fixtures, including three at Hull City at the beginning of the month. They’ve also been dealt a blow in the build up to this game following the news that key defender Pascal Struijk has been ruled out for at least three weeks with a hamstring injury.
Sheffield Wednesday have been a great time to watch from a neutral perspective over the past few months. They have only failed to score twice in their last 15 league games, whilst also hitting the back of the net ten times in their last four outings.
Third Prediction For Leeds United vs Sheffield Wednesday – Over 2.5 Goals – 73/100
With both teams possessing an attacking threat, this is a game which could produce goals. Daniel Farke’s side haven’t typically been involved in high scoring games in the past couple of months, although their last league game did finish 3-3 against Hull City. They will have to be at their best against a Wednesday team that know how to score though and they could need at least two goals to secure the three points.
The Owls have been involved in some entertaining affairs since Christmas. They drew 3-3 with Middlesbrough on Boxing Day before losing 3-1 to Preston North End three days later. They followed that with an impressive 4-2 win over Derby County on New Year’s Day, whilst they drew 2-2 with Millwall in their last league fixture.

Full Preview of the Game: Last Results and Head-To-Head
Leeds returned to winning ways last weekend with a 1-0 win over Harrogate Town in the FA Cup third round. This followed two successive draws in the Championship against Blackburn Rovers and Hull, whilst their last league victory came at Pride Park against Derby County at the end of December. They are still the team to beat in the second tier though and currently sit top of the division (at the time of writing).
Sheffield Wednesday have hit a little inconsistent patch, winning just one of their last five in all competitions. They exited the FA Cup on penalties against Coventry City last weekend, whilst their last league outing saw them draw 2-2 with Millwall at Hillsborough. That, coupled with a 4-2 win over Derby County on New Year’s Day, means they are just four points off the play-off places in 10th. This gap is likely to increase before this fixture is played though.
The Whites won the return fixture between the two sides in August, leaving Hillsborough with a 2-0 win. This scoreline mirrored the same tie last season, whilst they played out a 0-0 draw at Elland Road. Wednesday’s last win against Leeds came in 2020, also at Elland Road. Leeds haven’t beaten the Owls at home since a 1-0 win in 2019.
