Charlton Athletic Star On Radar Of Scottish Giants

Charlton Athletic‘s on loan midfielder Allan Campbell could leave the club this month as multiple Scottish sides have shown interest.

Campbell has been on loan at The Valley this season from Luton Town, having spent last season at Millwall. Under Nathan Jones, he has played 16 times so far, four more than he managed across an entire season for The Lions.

Gers And Dons Prepare For Move

According to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, Campbell is of interest to four separate Scottish Premiership sides, including Rangers, Aberdeen, Hearts, and Hibernian. Campbell spent most of his career with Motherwell, where he played 160 times before Luton signed him in 2021.

The report suggests that Campbell is interested in moving back home to Scotland on a permanent basis, ending his 18-month exodus from Kenilworth Road.

All four sides are facing very different fortunes in the top flight, with Rangers and Aberdeen pursuing European football and face each other tonight at Ibrox. Hibernian are in a battle to remain in the top six ahead of the league splitting later in this season, whilst Edinburgh rivals Hearts are in a relegation battle but well clear of bottom side St. Mirren.

Writer’s View

Allan Campbell does not seem to be getting a look-in at Luton and even with Charlton Athletic he is not been a regular fixture. A move back to Scotland will probably be beneficial for his career and thankfully for him, there are multiple destinations he can go. Rangers are an obvious choice considering their status and constant chance of winning the league. However, he may not be a regular starter. Going into one of the Edinburgh clubs like Hibernian or Hearts may be best if game time is his priority. With Nectarios Triantis’ future at Easter Road in the long run in question, Campbell could be a viable alternative should Sunderland send him elsewhere next season.
