‘A Bit Naughty’ – Lincoln City Boss Michael Skubala On Rotherham Challenge

Lincoln City head coach Michael Skubala has provided an update on the condition of defender Adam Jackson following a brutal challenge in the team’s recent clash against Rotherham.

The injury occurred just minutes into Jackson’s first start since recovering from a previous injury, when he was struck in the head by Hakeeb Odoffin. Despite the severity of the incident, the match referee, Martin Woods, did not deem either challenge as unfair.

Adam Jackson Injury

Jackson was left prone on the ground following the second challenge and was subsequently taken to A&E, where he spent the night in hospital. It was later revealed that he suffered significant facial injuries, including damage to his eye socket, and he will be out for an extended period. His injury adds to the club’s woes, as he joins Tom Hamer on the injured list, leaving Lincoln City with just three fit centre-backs.

“Jacko’s got some big damage on his face, which I thought was pretty poor when I looked at it back,” said Skubala in his pre-match press conference. “I didn’t see it on the day, but I thought the challenge was pretty poor. It’s not the first time that teams get away with that sort of stuff, so it’s really disappointing. He’s got some damage around his eye socket, so we’ll see.”

Skubala also reflected on the game against Rotherham, admitting that some of the tactics employed by the Millers were difficult to handle. He described certain actions as “a bit naughty,” although he stopped short of offering a stronger critique.

With Jackson’s injury adding to an already challenging situation, Skubala expressed frustration, especially as Jackson had just returned from injury.

“It’s hard to deal with elbows and things flying around, which I think’s a bit naughty, really,” Skubala added. “But that’s part of football. That’s part of it. We have to get on with it. But it puts us under more pressure in the centre half situation at the moment that we would have liked. More than anything, Jacko had just come back.”

Writer’s View

Adam Jackson’s injury is a tough blow for both him and Lincoln City. The defender had just made his return to the starting lineup, only to be subjected to another dangerous challenge. Skubala’s frustration is understandable, and there’s a strong case to be made that Odoffin’s challenge deserved a red card. It’s unfortunate that these incidents continue to go unpunished, and with the club now facing an even greater defensive crisis, they’ll need to find solutions fast.
