Bolton Wanderers are building up towards a busy January transfer as boss Ian Evatt expects movement both in and out of the club, according to Yahoo Sports.
Evatt is working alongside sporting director Chris Markham to create a plan of action.
Busy Winter Window Ahead
Bolton has been deemed to be struggling in patches this season and Evatt has come under pressure at times this season.
However, since an embarrassing defeat to Huddersfield Town in the middle of September Wanderers have largely turned their season around. They have won six of their last 10 League One outings and find themselves outside the playoffs on goal difference.
Evatt insists the club have a clear idea about how they are to build and improve on their current position when January arrives.
“I think it will be busy, both in and out.”
“We are always looking to do business but I think we are in a position where we can do maintenance on the squad and we have a pretty clear idea of what we want and what we need. We will be working hard to make that happen.”
Better Luck With Injuries
Ahead of the busy Christmas period, Evatt has bemoaned his side’s luck with injuries this season but is hopeful some of his big hitters will be back in action sooner rather than later.
“I think so far this season we have been pretty unfortunate, especially with our main players, that we haven’t had the full group together at the same time.”
“Hopefully that will start to be the case very soon but, even so, we have picked up results since the Huddersfield game. It went largely unnoticed, and I don’t think that is a bad thing sometimes.”
Emotions Run High
Bolton’s stuttering start to the campaign brought the pressure firmly on their manager’s shoulders but Evatt is confident the best is yet to come from his side.
“Emotions can be heightened and sometimes you can feel under pressure that you shouldn’t necessarily be under but the good thing for me is that I don’t think we are anywhere near to our best yet.”
“If we can find that rhythm then I have no doubt this team can go on a huge run.”
Writer’s View
Evatt’s men are largely going under the radar and are perfectly poised for a playoff push. With players back from injury and additions made in January, it will be hard to bet against them finishing in the top six.
