Wycombe Wanderers Preparing As Normal For Potential Banana Skin Cup Clash

Wycombe Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield insists the club are preparing as normal for their FA Cup second-round clash with Wealdstone on Saturday, according to Bucks Free Press.

The contest kicks off at 11.30 am at Waldstone’s Grosvenor Vale.

Approaching Like Any Away Day

With the morning kickoff, Bloomfield is keen to ensure his side are fully prepared and give themselves the best chance of progression.

“We train at 11:00 am every morning, so it’s just a normal preparation for me.”

“It’s slightly different to your usual Saturday and it’s just the travelling time, but we have to make sure we prepared as it’s an earlier start.”

“We’re staying overnight, so we’re approaching it like we would any other away game because we want to be up and at them.”

“The last thing we want to do is not have the right preparation.”

Cameras Hoping For Giant Killing

The Wycombe boss is wary of the potential giant killing and knows the TV cameras are at the game for that very reason.

“The expectation is on us and we have to make sure we turn up and perform.”

“There’s a reason why we’ve been put live on the telly and there’s a reason why there’s a lot of attention around the game.”

“As soon as I saw the draw, I thought that we might be a game that gets some attention because it’s a Football League team away at a Non-League side.”

“It’s the type of story and scenario that the early rounds produce, so for us, it’s about being psychological and the way we approach the game.”

Enjoy And Embrace The Challenge

The Chairboys are enjoying an incredible run of ten straight wins in all competitions and have only suffered one defeat in 19.

The FA Cup throws the club a different challenge but the manager has a simple message for his in-form side.

“But we have to make sure that we enjoy it, we relish it and embrace the moment that we’ve got.”

This has all the ingredients of a cup upset. The high-flying football league club heading to a struggling non-league outfit for an early kick-off in front of the television cameras.

However, at present Wycombe looks unstoppable and is finding ways to win games. Wealdstone will have to be at their very, very best and hope the visitors are suffering an off day to progress.
