Shrewsbury Town Boss Could Give Salop The Edge In Window

Wycombe Wanderers’ director of football Mickey Moore believes Gareth Ainsworth will give the club an advantage should they look to strengthen their squad in January, as reported by The Shropshire Star.

Moore says that conversations regarding January have already begun with the new man in charge.

Ainsworth Will Enhance Chances

Since his appointment, Ainsworth has said that any movement in January will be dependent on what he sees from his current squad from now until January.

His reign got off to the best possible start with a victory over Birmingham City as the former Wycombe boss looks to put his spell at Queens Park Rangers behind him and propel Salop to safety.

Moore believes his achievements with the Chairboys will give his current employers an edge in any January negotiations.

“Between now and the New Year, Gareth will continue to make assessments on the players.”

“We have already had conversations about what January will look like in terms of new recruits.”

“It can be a very difficult month to get players in. But I’m sure having Gareth as a head coach will help and enhance our chances of getting deals over the line.”

New Manager, New Expectations

Moore continued by discussing what the new man in charge was expecting from his players from now until January and beyond as they look to secure League One safety.

“Gareth has spoken at length about how – every week – he expects his players to leave everything out on the field.”

“He wants hard work, he wants commitment, and he wants to make sure no player comes away from a game with any regrets.”

“Every one of the players performed in that manner on Saturday. And I know Gareth will be demanding the same every week.”

Writer’s View

Gareth Ainsworth is a superb appointment for Shrewsbury Town, particularly with their perilous position in the league table.

He has a proven record at this record and will be able to encourage players to join the club when they may have otherwise looked elsewhere.

If he can continue the start he made against Birmingham City, he will have strengthened his bargaining position and will be able to add better players who can take the club forward.
