Our Three Predictions For Sunderland vs West Bromwich Albion

  • First Prediction: Match Result – Draw – 11/5
  • Second Prediction: Under 2.5 Goals – 8/13
  • Third Prediction: Sunderland – Draw No Bet – 8/13

First Prediction For Sunderland vs West Bromwich Albion – Match Result – Draw – 11/5

Both teams enter this game in the midst of big unbeaten runs. Sunderland haven’t tasted defeat since September in a run stretching nine Championship games, whilst West Brom haven’t been on the losing side in eight. However, the Baggies have won just won of those, with the other seven ending in draws. Meanwhile, Regis Le Bris’ side have seen their last four outings end in a stalemate. As a result, this fixture looks an absolute shoo-in to end as a draw.

Second Prediction For Sunderland vs West Bromwich Albion – Under 2.5 Goals – 8/13

With a draw looking likely, the stats say that it will be a low-scoring one. West Brom drew 2-2 with Norwich City at the weekend, although that was just the second time this season where they’ve conceded more than once. As for Sunderland, their last four fixtures have seen two 0-0 draws, as well as Saturday’s 1-1 result against Millwall. The only game that has seen over 2.5 goals in their last seven was a 2-2 draw with Coventry City. Add into that that the duo have conceded 12 and 11 goals respectively, and this could be a low-scoring affair.

Third Prediction For Sunderland vs West Bromwich Albion – Sunderland – Draw No Bet – 8/13

Although we have opted for a draw, a punt could be taken on Sunderland to snatch a victory. West Brom enter this game in poor form on the road. They have failed to pick up three points away from home in their last five away from The Hawthorns, a run stretching back to mid-September. Alternatively, Sunderland are undefeated at the Stadium of Light. The only two teams to come away from Wearside with anything are Leeds United and Coventry, who both picked up a point. Protecting your bet with a draw no bet option is smart, meaning you stake will be returned if a winner cannot be found.

Full Preview of the Game: Last Results and Head-To-Head

As previously stated, both teams enter the game having almost forgotten how to lose. This could make for a cagey affair at the Stadium of Light as the duo search for any small initiative. Sunderland’s four consecutive draws have seen them lose their place at the top of the table, with Leeds United’s stunning 4-3 over Swansea City yesterday seeing them move to the summit on goal difference. It is worth noting that three of the Black Cats’ recent draws have come away from home and they have an excellent record in front of their own supporters this season. As for the visitors, an unbeaten run of eight looks good on paper. However, with seven draws in that time, they need to find a way to grind out a win. Their league position has been largely unaffected though, with the Baggies still in the play-off positions in sixth.

Despite their poor campaign last season, Sunderland did complete the double over West Brom. They won 2-1 at the Stadium of Light before emerging from The Hawthorns with a 1-0 victory in April. History tells us that there is not a lot between the two teams, with Sunderland winning 60 of their previous 160 clashes, West Brom winning 56 and 44 ending in a draw.
