Harrogate Town have suffered yet another blow to their squad as it was confirmed that Ellis Taylor will be out until at least January.
The winger has been a standout player for The Sulphurites this season, contributing three goals so far this season in his 20 appearances. He joined the club over the summer on a free transfer from Championship side Sunderland.
Third Long-Term Absentee
Taylor becomes the latest name on the physio’s table at Wetherby Road, with George Thomson, Liam Gibson and Matty Daly already out. The latter is close to returning to full fitness from a toe injury.
Speaking to the Harrogate Advertiser, Town boss Simon Weaver revealed the news around the 21-year-old, who can be versatile on both wings.
“Ellis has pulled his quad. We’ve had him scanned and he will be out for at least eight weeks.
“It’s a blow for all of us, we think the world of Ellis. The way that he came in on trial and has taken it by storm, I feel really sad for him.”
He signed a two-year deal in North Yorkshire over the summer after his release from The Black Cats and has made impacts, most notably in their White Rose derby victory over Bradford City in September.
Despite success in the FA Cup over Wrexham, Harrogate have reached a tricky spot in their season with no wins in their last four matches in League Two.
Writer’s View
Ellis Taylor is a big blow to Harrogate Town’s squad depth for the forseeable future. He can play on either wing and has been a bright spot in a season which has had a couple of bright spots but is nowhere near the start they made to the 2023/24 campaign. Their fixture list over the festive period does look tricky but the prospect of an FA Cup third round place should they beat Gainsborough Trinity will be an enticing prospect to aim for.
