Our Three Predictions For Harrogate Town vs Chesterfield

  • First Prediction: Both sides to score 63/100
  • Second Prediction: Chesterfield to win – 67/100
  • Third Prediction: Will Grigg to score at anytime – 29/20

First Prediction For Harrogate Town vs Chesterfield – Both sides to score 63/100

Although Harrogate have one of the worst scoring records in the league, they have scored in their last three matches. Chesterfield, on the other hand, are the highest-scoring club in the division at the moment. Although Cook’s side are free-scoring, they also don’t have the best defensive record, shipping 18 goals, which is the second most in the top 10 of the League Two table. Simon Weaver’s side also happen to have the same problem, with Harrogate shipping 21 goals, which is one of the poorest defensive records in the division. Both sides can score, but also aren’t the best when it comes to defending. To further prove the point, the Sulphurites have only kept two clean sheets this season in all competitions, with the Spirereites keeping double that with four.

Second Prediction For Harrogate Town vs Chesterfield – Chesterfield to win – 67/100

Even though Chesterfield are a side who won promotion back to the EFL last season, they are strong promotion contenders for this campaign too. With the obvious 11-place and seven-point gap between the two sides, alongside both sides’ differing form, all the arrows are pointing towards a Chesterfield win. Whilst Weaver’s side are struggling, four points off the relegation zone with one win in their last five, Cook’s side are flying, three wins and only one loss in their last five. There is also added pressure to the game for the Spirereites, as they are only two points off the play-off spots, and depending on other results, could see themselves as high as fifth if they were to win all three points at the Exercise Stadium. Also, Harrogate’s home form is one of the worst in the divisions, and Chesterfield’s away form is one of the best in the division.

Third Prediction For Harrogate Town vs Chesterfield – Will Grigg to score at anytime – 29/20

One of the reasons for Chesterfield’s aforementioned good goalscoring form is experienced striker Will Grigg. The League Two October Player of the Month winner has scored nine goals in 17 games in all competitions, including six goals in his last six appearances. The 33-year-old is the joint second-highest top scorer in the league, only one goal behind Andy Cook, who currently is leading the race in League Two’s golden boot chase. With form and momentum on his side, alongside Harrogate’s poor defensive record, Grigg has the opportunity to increase his goal-scoring tally for the season.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results and Head-To-Head

The hosts come into this game on the back of some inconsistent form. Although they have won against the likes of Wrexham in the FA Cup, a loss to Morecambe, who are sat bottom of the league in the relegation zone sums up Harrogate’s season so far. The league is tremendously tight when it comes to points, with Harrogate only being four points off relegation but yet three wins off of the play-off spots. Whilst a loss at the hands of Chesterfield would not mean they’d be in the relegation spots, they’d be very close to being in it. A win, depending on other results could take them up to as high as 16th.

The visitors for this clash have recently hit some good form, although they have been inconsistent too. Picking up three wins in their last five, their only loss has come at the hands of Accrington Stanley, who are down in the bottom half of the table, and not so long ago were in the relegation zone. They also drew to Colchester United, a team sat 21st and winless in the league since the end of September. Whilst a loss would peg them down a few places, a win could propel them up into those play-off spots.

These sides have met recently in the National League, but not in the EFL. Since 2018, they have played each other four times, Harrogate winning three times and Chesterfield only winning once.
