Former Lincoln City Man In Top Flight Exit

St Mirren has confirmed that former Lincoln City defender Jaden Brown has left the club by mutual consent as he faces sentencing for driving offences in Scotland.

The 25-year-old, who had been a regular for the club until September, pleaded guilty to multiple driving violations after being caught behind the wheel twice within days despite a previous ban.

Driving Offences and Court Proceedings

Brown, who rejoined St Mirren in the summer on a two-year contract following a loan spell from Lincoln, found himself in court after admitting to driving without a licence or insurance on July 11 and again two days later while already banned from driving. His original ban had been imposed following a drink-driving conviction, and these recent offences have now compounded his legal challenges. Brown’s case is ongoing at Paisley Sheriff Court, where he awaits sentencing.

In a statement, St Mirren expressed that Brown’s departure had been reached by “mutual consent,” allowing the defender to “return to England to be closer to his family.” The club indicated they would make no further comment on the matter, opting to keep details of the agreement confidential.

“St Mirren Football Club can confirm that Jaden Brown has left the club by mutual consent. Jaden will now return to England to be closer to his family… The club will make no further comment,” the club stated.

Since signing with St Mirren on a permanent basis in June, Brown had contributed to the club’s early season success, appearing in all of their seven Scottish Premiership matches up until the end of September. His recent legal issues, however, had seen him excluded from recent matchday squads, casting uncertainty over his future with the team.

The defender initially joined St Mirren on loan in January from Sky Bet League One side Lincoln City, helping the Scottish side secure a position in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers. His promising start to the season was interrupted by his legal troubles, ultimately leading to his departure as the club moved forward without him.

Jaden Brown’s exit from St Mirren highlights the broader challenges professional clubs face in managing player conduct off the field. While Brown’s abilities were evident on the pitch, his departure signals St Mirren’s commitment to maintaining its standards amid difficult circumstances. As Brown returns to England, his next steps will likely involve not only resolving his legal situation but also focusing on rebuilding his career.
