Redcar native Hayden Hackney experienced a dream come true on Sunday when he unexpectedly captained his hometown club, Middlesbrough, for the first time in a league game against Norwich.
The 22-year-old midfielder, who came through the Middlesbrough academy and has supported the team since childhood, found the captain’s armband waiting for him when he walked into the away dressing room.
