Eintracht Frankfurt Weighing £10m Move for Leeds United Man

Leeds United defender Rasmus Kristensen, currently on a season-long loan with Eintracht Frankfurt, may soon see his temporary stay in Germany turn permanent.

The Bundesliga club, reportedly keen on securing Kristensen’s talents beyond his loan period, are evaluating a £10 million transfer to make him a long-term addition to their squad. The 27-year-old has made an impact since joining Frankfurt’s ranks, featuring in 12 matches across all competitions and recording both a goal and an assist. His performances have not gone unnoticed by Eintracht Frankfurt’s management, with sporting director Timmo Hardung acknowledging the Danish defender’s contributions and hinting at a potential future at the Waldstadion.

Frankfurt’s Interest and Leeds United’s Stance

Kristensen’s move to Frankfurt follows a loan spell with AS Roma last season, which further signalled that Leeds may not be planning on reintegrating the Danish international into their future line-up. Hardung, discussing the matter with the Scandinavian outlet Tipsbladet, shared the club’s admiration for the defender and his impact on the team.

“It is definitely an opportunity for us,” Hardung said, speaking about the potential for a permanent transfer. “We greatly appreciate [Kristensen] and his qualities as a football player. When you think about the squad next season, we will look at whether we want him permanently. Right now he is on loan with us until June 2025, so we have him secured until then. He is very important to us.”

The final decision on Kristensen’s future remains undecided, with both clubs set to assess the feasibility of a permanent move. Hardung also spoke to Sport Witness, emphasising that discussions are ongoing and noting the importance of involving both Kristensen and Leeds United in the talks.

Kristensen initially joined Leeds in 2022 for an undisclosed fee, widely speculated to be around £10 million. Since his arrival, he has clocked up 26 league appearances and three goals for the Whites. Before his time in West Yorkshire, the versatile defender had stints at Ajax, RB Salzburg, and FC Midtjylland and earned 24 international caps representing Denmark.

Kristensen’s steady rise at Eintracht Frankfurt suggests a mutually beneficial fit for both player and club, especially as Leeds seem content to part ways. Should Frankfurt secure him on a permanent basis, they gain a reliable defender with international experience and a strong physical presence. Leeds, meanwhile, may see the sale as a valuable opportunity to redirect resources as they look to build their own squad for future campaigns.
