Lincoln City heads into their clash against Northampton Town with growing injury concerns.
Manager Michael Skubala faces key absences that could impact tonight’s match, as the Imps look to break a longstanding home record without a clean sheet against Northampton since 2003.
Key Players Ruled Out
Central midfielder Ethan Erhahon, instrumental in recent games, suffered an injury just 15 minutes into the game against Stockport. Skubala confirmed Erhahon will miss the Northampton game, awaiting further tests.
“He’s going for a scan today, so things haven’t settled down,” Skubala shared in his pre-match briefing. “He’ll miss tomorrow at least, but we’ll see what the scan reveals first. Sometimes the results can be positive, and sometimes they’re quite negative. We need to wait on that.”
Defender Adam Jackson is also a concern. While progressing in his recovery, Jackson remains confined to gym training for the time being, with full field work still weeks away.
Positive Signs Despite Setbacks
Despite the absences, Lincoln has some good news: Lewis Montsma and Ethan Hamilton have both returned from long-term injuries, making notable impacts in recent matches. Montsma, sidelined for over a year, and Hamilton, fresh from a multi-month recovery, both delivered strong performances against Stockport.
Skubala emphasized the need for caution with both players, particularly Montsma.
“We have to be careful with both of them for different reasons, especially Lewis. There’s a spike in risk if he plays another game. We assessed that this morning with the medical team to see if he can go again or if it’s too soon,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Tyler Walker remains out, though his progress in training signals he may return in the coming weeks. Reeco Hackett, recently back on the field, will be closely monitored to see if he can handle two matches in quick succession.
The Imps are also awaiting the return of Jovon Makama, a rising star this season. Although Makama’s comeback is imminent, Skubala may decide to ease him in, given Ben House and Bailey Cadamarteri’s strong recent performances.
Writer’s View
With injuries impacting the squad, Lincoln City’s depth will be tested. Skubala’s careful handling of returning players like Montsma and Hamilton shows foresight, yet the timing of these absences could weigh heavily. How the Imps adapt tonight will reveal their resilience and could prove decisive against a determined Northampton team.
