As Hull City prepare for their Championship clash with Derby County, winger Dogukan Sinik is eager to make a long-awaited return to the pitch.
The 25-year-old, who joined Hull in 2022, has been sidelined due to injuries this season but is now fully fit and hopes to contribute to the Tigers’ campaign.
Sinik’s journey at Hull has been challenging, with recurring fitness issues limiting his impact since his arrival. However, in a recent interview with Hull Live, he expressed a renewed determination to seize his opportunity whenever it arises.
“I know that I have been very unlucky so far in my Hull City career,” Sinik admitted. “Since coming back to the team last year, I have been feeling very positive, and now I just want to get back onto the pitch and give back to the club.”
The Turkish international, who has made 13 appearances for Hull but has yet to score, is focused on returning to form and repaying the support of the fans.
“I am just waiting for my chance. I am training and trying every day, working hard. My teammates are all helping me every day, and we have a very positive environment right now,” he added. “I am very happy in Hull. My family is very happy in Hull. My wife and I love the club, the shirt, the stadium, the fans.”
Hull City Faces Decision on Sinik’s Future
Hull City initially signed Sinik as one of their key additions following Acun Ilicali’s takeover in 2022. However, despite his promise, the winger has struggled to cement a place due to his fitness issues, leading to loan spells with Turkish clubs Antalyaspor and Hatayspor in recent seasons.
Now under contract until the summer of 2025, Hull City may soon face a decision regarding his long-term future. Without a contract extension, the Tigers risk losing Sinik for free next summer if they don’t cash in on him in January.

Sinik’s return to fitness gives head coach Tim Walter an additional option, providing depth and competition in Hull’s attacking line. However, it remains to be seen if he can maintain his fitness and make a case for a permanent role in the team.
Hull City travel to Derby County this weekend, and with Sinik back in training and ready to play, the Turkish winger could yet find himself with an opportunity to shine.
