‘Stretch Teams’ – Carlisle United Boss On What Recent Signing Will Bring To Cumbrians

Carlisle United manager Mike Williamson is confident that new signing Tyler Burey has the determination and skills to make a significant impact at the club.

The 23-year-old former Millwall winger made his debut as a substitute in Carlisle’s 1-1 draw against Harrogate Town, having recently joined the Blues on a short-term deal.

Burey, who was a free agent after leaving Danish club Odense Boldklub in August, is on contract with Carlisle until January, and Williamson believes the player has arrived eager to prove himself.

Burey’s Attributes Highlighted

Speaking about the new addition, Williamson emphasized what Burey will bring to the team:

“He’s got pace, he can run, he can break the line, he can stretch teams – and he feels as though he’s got something to prove as well. He wants to get his head down and work as hard as he possibly can to show everyone that he’s good enough to play in the league,” said the Carlisle head coach.

Despite limited game time recently, Burey showed flashes of his quality after coming off the bench during Saturday’s game, and Williamson is hopeful that the forward will continue to improve as he gains more match fitness.

A Determined Debut for Burey and Robson

Burey was one of two debutants in the Harrogate clash, with summer signing Ethan Robson also making his first appearance following a pre-season hamstring injury. Williamson, who previously worked with Robson at MK Dons, praised both players’ efforts and highlighted their determination to contribute to the team.

On Robson’s return, Williamson commented:

“Ethan is someone I know really well, and he looks determined to come in and put a stamp on the team. His quality is unquestionable, and we just need to make sure he gets stronger.”

With both players now working their way into the squad, Carlisle United will be looking to build on the positive aspects of their performances as they aim to climb the League One table in the coming weeks.

Writer’s View

Tyler Burey’s move to Carlisle United is a smart, low-risk gamble for the club. His pace, ability to stretch defences, and desire to prove himself after a spell in Denmark make him a valuable short-term asset. While he needs time to regain match sharpness, Burey’s determination could inject fresh energy into Carlisle’s attack. If he can hit form quickly, this could be a key signing for their League One campaign, offering a real boost to their forward options.
