Tranmere Rovers Boss Makes Squad Revelation

Nigel Adkins has said he would like to utilise the depth in his Tranmere Rovers squad as they travel to face Bromley.

The Wirral side have used 22 players so far over their League Two season, putting them joint-18th place in that metric. The Super White Army were on a good run of points before they lost last weekend to Bradford City.

Physicality Hints At Squad Changes

Speaking to the media ahead of the game at Hayes Lane, former Hull City boss Adkins said (Quotes via Wirral Globe):

“Ideally you want the same team every week and we’ve been very good at defending deep, intercepting and then counter attack but I’d like us to be in a position where we don’t have to do that all the time.

“Can we be more evolved where we have longer spells with the ball? When I look at the game at the weekend it will be very physical and combative so afterwards the squad will be utilised.”

Rovers will have additional options to pick from in midfield compared to that loss against The Bantams, with Saidou Khan returning from international duty with The Gambia. The Swindon Town loanee has appeared four times for the club since arriving and played the full 90 minutes before the international break against MK Dons.

On The Hunt For Goals

Tranmere have scored just five league goals this season, with only Cardiff City scoring fewer across the EFL. Adkins acknowledged the lack of finishing, adding:

“We have to score more goals and have more attempts at goal and we are working on the training ground to address that.

“If you look at the MK Dons game they will keep the ball but we had the ball just as much as them if not more but Bromley probably won’t have so much of the ball but they are a big, direct side and we have to deal with that.”

Writer’s View

Tranmere Rovers have had a good run up until Bradford and Andy Cook arrived last weekend. They now face a Bromley side who are winless in their last ten but will cause a threat to anyone. This game is likely to be a feisty, physical affair and there might not be enough for one side to come out on top.
